I had high hopes for these headphones, but had to return them because they were a bit of a disaster.
Disclaimer - I only used these on Mac OS (Big Sur), on a 2018 Macbook Pro, and predominantly for conference calls like Zoom, Teams, etc.
After 2 weeks of fighting with these, I lost faith in the unit and returned for a refund. Upgraded (+10 quid) to a Steel Series Arctis 1 - which has shown absolutely flawless performance so far.
Pros: * Earphone sound quality - excellent for both speech and music. Decent bass, but not overly bassy like some headphones. * Mic sound quality (to your receiving party) - excellent. * Audio controls - excellent. Can vary the headphone and mic 'sidetone' volume separately on analog dials, on the side of the unit. No need to fire up any management software to do that.
Cons: * BIG CHONKING headphones. Good for gamers perhaps, but makes you look like a t*t in a video conference call. * Connectivity was very flaky. Not sure whether this was USB driver related or the RF connection between the headset and the USB dongle. Kept getting its knickers in a twist. Sometimes I'd need to plug the USB dongle out/in to get it working again. Sometimes powering the headset off/on would do it. After 2 weeks ownership, it started doing its auto power-off, as if there was no signal present. In every case, there WAS signal present. Result - I got kicked off my call.
After reading multiple reviews of similar products in my price range, I chose these; assuming they would be a decent upgrade on the previous technology I've been using for 10+ years.
I have previously used;
- The PS3 Official Virtual Surround Headset - Turtle Beach Stealth 520.
Both of these products allow for independent, manual control of BOTH the Master Audio and Voice Audio...
The Stealth 600's do not...
Yes. More modern technology actually has fewer features than older tech, with the need to now access Voice volume control through the snail paced slow PS4 Party menu.
If I had known this, I would not have purchased this product.
- Excellent sound. - Very comfortable - Superhuman hearing is excellent and a good showcase of the Virtual Surround technology. - Great battery life - Microphone quality is good, I have been told my voice is clear and consistent.
All of this is good and expected. I am simply shocked that the features have taken a backward step and would not be surprised if this Voice Control ability is now present in a more expensive tier.
I bought these for my fiance for his birthday. I researched lots as I had no idea what I was looking for and he hadn't stated a preference other than a headset. I found this one and took a chance and it is amazing. It's really easy to connect it literally was plug in the connector to the USB port for the controller and use. The sound is impeccable, really clear but not overpowering. The mic flips up to mute talking if that's what you'd like. Overall great quality and isn't overly priced either, really impressed 😊
Now, I first should say that I have actually really liked these. But I do have 3 issues.
1) I often find myself having trouble reconnecting them. If I stop them or turn off my laptop then trying to reconnect them after everything is turned back on can be a bit of a pain. I typically use a mac, so it might just be that. I can usually re-connect but there have been times when I've had to use something else because I couldn't get these to connect.
2) I've been told from the very beginning that I'm "quiet" and I don't think there's any way to boost my mic. I've not been told it's a problem; but it's just annoying.
3) They don't have a headphone jack. I know they are bluetooth, but there are times I've needed to plug them in and I can't which I can't use them at all the times I want to.
Otherwise, I love having a bluetooth headset and the sound is quite good. I also tend to wear them all day long (as I work from home) and they are typically comfortable for long hauls.
Really great headset with good sound quality. I use it for call of duty as you can use it to hear enemy footsteps etc... I’ve also tried the 700, but the 600 gen 2 is the best headset I’ve had in years and I’ve used a lot of different types including astros. The only negatives are that it can take a few seconds to connect sometimes, and you need to unplug the dongle when not in use as otherwise you won’t get any sound through when not using the headset. Other than this it’s an awesome headset especially for the price
I used to use turtle beach when I first got into gaming so thought id go back and try this headset.
Firstly, it's not comfortable. My head feels sore whenever I use it. I have experimented with all the settings (in game-Warzone- and headset) to try and find the best settings to play and the best settings still aren't that good.
The sound quality of the game play is poor, you can barely hear a thing, other headsets I use I can hear people walking 2 rooms away, with this headset I cant even hear people walking next to me. The mic constantly cuts out and my friends say they cant hear me or that I sound like a robot. I have gone back to my old headset which was a lot better and also cheaper.
If you buy this you're buying it for the name turtle beach not actually the quality of the headset.
Had to order a replacement as the original didn't properly connect to its Bluetooth dongle.
The replacement arrived within a day of ordering and the return process was smooth.
The sound is really good, has the 3D modeling done and it is useful to be able to play with the mix of voice feedback and in-game audio as well as treble and bass settings right on the headphone itself. It has a decent range, it allows me to go up the stairs and back without disconnecting. The comfort of the headset is good, once you're able to find the right position. This might prove tricky, due to the square form of the cushions.
Great sound. Nice quality. BUT no way to switch back to speakers from headphones without yanking the USB dongle. Contacted Turtle Beach and they confirmed this is the only way to switch to other outputs. If, like me, you use headphones for gaming and speakers for streaming video (Netflix) you should AVOID these headphones.
Comfort- 7/10. Not as comfortable as steel series Arctis 3 or razor Kraken tournament edition. Gets abit sore after an hour or so at the beginning but are getting better after been worn in abit. Audio 9/10for call of duty and fortnite is great and superhuman hearing is OP. The other audio settings are not needed as SHH is best. Wireless is great and connects very quickly through the dongle usually within 3-5 secs. Battery hasn’t ran out once so far and charge everyother night. Overall 9/10
