Unfortunately, prior to buying this book, I read "Amazon Customer"s review posted on 24th April which contained a spoiler so I already knew a major plot line, and I think this affected .my enjoyment of the book. However I did enjoy it. There are a few typos/wrong words in it and I thought there was a little too much angst from Jo (but maybe the author knows exactly how a new author would feel!). But overall a light, heartwarming book and I would read more by this author.
This visit takes us back to Ivy Lane and Jo's story where she's writing a book and has been for awhile but is afraid to let anyone read it. She meets Harry's Grandson Lorcan who she makes aware of her feelings about not coming when Harry had his heart attack and how all the residents took care of him. Jo's sister Clara is lovely and Noah and Libby's relationship has progressed. Libby got to read her book and got a guest author to read it much to Jo's discomfort the writer Ewan said he'd help her. Lorcan didn't like him and with good reason he had stolen other authors work and if Libby had not sent it to literary agents it could have happened to Jo's work. Jo and Lorcan find they have a lot in common and get together which was good. Loved going back to Ivy Lane and look forward to the next one to see whose dream comes true next
Jo has written a novel and would love to have it published but is struggling to be brave and follow her dream. In this novel we follow Jo as she deals with the trials and tribulations of becoming a published author.
What a lovely story! I loved The Hopes and Dreams of Libby Quinn and couldn't wait to return to Ivy Lane. The characters and community are incredibly endearing so I couldn't wait to reconnect with them all (you don't need to have read Libby Quinn to read this one though - they are novels in their own right too). Very highly recommended and the perfect novel for these challenging times!
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC of this book.
I have just read my review for the book about Libby Quinn which I described as lovely, lovely, lovely and I am pleased to say that this book is definitely in the same vein. This time, the focus is on Jo and it tells a different tale altogether. I especially enjoyed the banter with Jo's sister Clara...She was a delight. This book was another hit for me and it features some very interesting characters, mainly very nice.
Having just finished a brilliant but dark read, this was next on my list to bring some lightness and joy and didn’t disappoint! I’d already met the characters of Ivy Lane in The Hopes & Dreams of Libby Quinn and it was lovely to catch up again however be assured that this works just as well as a stand-alone read! A great heart-warming read, like catching up with old friends but without being ‘fluffy’!! Looking forward to more stories from this wonderful community
I really enjoyed this second instalment about Ivy Lane. I did see the plot twist coming but it didn't detract from the story. The characters are beautifully described and I could picture myself walking along the Foyle with Jo & Paddy. This was the perfect remedy to the current pandemic, I thorough recommend this book to everyone.
