This sound bar does not and I repeat does not have hdmi arc port, the site saids so, people are saying so,but they are talking about the 550 and 650,i ordered and got it and no hdmi arc and now I have to send it back!!
Other than the improved bass from the subwoofer, this sound bar sounds no better than the Samsung TV's built-in speakers. Don't waste your money. We tried everything, but there's no getting around the crappy, muffled sound quality of the bar. Note, nowhere does Samsung specify basic frequency response or distortion ratings. We had to send it back: it's just plain not worth half the cost. I replaced it with a low cost DAC and ordinary speakers.
The seller (Top Choice Electronics, Inc.) was great at delivery and approving the return and refund. I'd deal with them again any day. But Samsung should be embarrassed.
Item looks great. Good bass ... NO treble. I'm an IT guy. Electronic product installations are quite easy for me. THIS product, however, took me a call to Samsung after spending an HOUR attempting to hookup via BlueTooth to my Samsung QLED TV! Had to do a RESTART of the TV before I could "Pair" it via BT. Worked OK ... but the volume was lacking. I say that because I had a portable Sony speaker (20W) originally attached via BT that was WAY louder and quite clear vs this muddy sounding soundbar. The NEXT day, I turned on the TV and this item AGAIN refused to link via BT ... even though I could see it listed as having been paired. I attempted to contact Samsung ... but no one was available to contact me back. After another hour waiting with Amazon for assistance I gave up! Sending this POOR piece of equipment back!! DO NOT BUY!!
The woofer is always emitting a low digital-like rumble at a fixed volume unless unplugged or the sound bar system is muted. While not loud and not always audible over the source it is beyond annoying during quiet passages of movies or otherwise. It is beyond annoying.
Given it is a fixed volume regardless of volume setting or even subwoofer boost/attenutation setting of the sound bar this cannot be from my audio source. If it were my source the volume of the noise would change when the sound bar volume was changed. It does not. I also have no issues with the output of my TV on other devices or a previous sound bar. There is no noise coming from the sound bar itself, just the woofer.
The only "fix" is to unplug the woofer or mute the entire system. This is a completely unacceptable design flaw in the circuitry of the woofer allowing what I assume is the wireless circuit to leak into the amplifer, or a PWM amp in the subwoofer having an extremely poor analog filter.
This doesn't stay connected to any device. I bought this because I wanted it to be compatible with my Samsung series 8 TV. It doesn't stay connected, you have to unplug the soundbar and plug it back in every time. Same when connecting to the phone. We wanted to blast some beats in the living room and it connects for a second then immediately disconnects. We tried on multiple devices, same problem. I returned it for a refund, Amazon is amazing as usual on that front.
This unit is paired with a Samsung Series 8000 TV (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B084JHKT7S). The sound quality is good WHEN it works. Unfortunately, it frequently loses connection for a second or two.
When it loses connection, there is no sound at all, and when it comes back, often it does so at a lower volume. The "D-In" light flashes on the front of the soundbar. The soundbar is connected via the digital optical cable that came with the unit, I have seated and reseated the cable in case it's loose... No help.
Unfortunately, it has another bad consequence... when the sound comes back, it's often at a lower volume. Indeed I find I have to jack the volume up to 50% (which ordinarily is VERY loud) just to hear... but if you pause the program and restart, it sometimes comes back YELLING SO LOUDLY you need to run from the room. Watching a two hour movie means you'll repeat the volume dance a half dozen times.
Another problem was the lip synchronization (audio/video). There is a setting in the TV (which I've messed with) to get the synchronization "about right", but depending on what I'm watching/streaming it varies from "close enough" to "dubbed movie" behavior. The closest to right is "zero delay"... sadly you can't set a negative number as that would be even closer.
The next problem I have with this device (in fact ALL Samsung devices), is that you have to use their Apps (Smart Things) and it asks a ton of personal questions, and your personal information is "disclosed" as they see fit. No control over that, no options. Why is this bad? Because not only is a Korean company in full control of your personal information, but the Smart Things App is a disaster. Theoretically you can use it to update the TV or the Sound Bar firmware... but getting it to recognize the soundbar is a problem.
The app also seems more interested in selling you things than in solving problems. The Samsung TV/Soundbar combo is a mistake, apparently. I think I am forced to revert to using my stereo system for good sound, but I liked not having to turn on and set that system separately.
In the end, this unit is a DO NOT BUY recommendation from me. I'll continue to mess with it... but I've already spent a dozen hours scouring the internet and Samsung sites to find a solution and have come up empty.
This sound bar only works via optical cord I have not been able to hook up any device since I've purchased via bluetooth it says pairing but is not recognizable.. I have it an additional month from time of purchase and can no longer return I love Amazon but this is such an inconvenience at this point I've upgraded my phone new samsung tv, tablet and receiver does not recognize sound bar. So disappointed right now, do not buy just saw a review around the time of my purchase with the same concern not worth it should have went to best buy for something like this.
Worked only for a day, and then died!! Would not connect to my samsung TV via bluetooth. My TV was not able to find the device itself. I restarted everything, and when it finally was discovered on the list, it kept saying "unable to connect." Tried to restart everything multiple times without any success. This all happened after I tried to airplay something to my TV on YouTube, which requires bluetooth connection. I turned off the bluetooth on my phone of course, but the connection from the soundbar to my TV forever died. Such a shame, the sound was actually really awesome as was the subwoofer. Disappointed in samsung.
Sound is horrible. One day volume at 20 is good then the next you have to go up to 60 for the same quality. It will even occasionally just die out to where you have to turn it off then back on. Wish I never replaced my old samsung soundbar. Didn't want multiple remote controls. Oh well will be looking to save ip to get a new one. Just got to figure out who to go with. Dec 11, 2020. The soundbar is even worse then I originally thought the bluetooth connection is inconsistant to wear it will jist stop connecting to it's source. In order to fix it you have to unplug the power cord then wait to replug it in to get the bluetooth working again.
