I generally don't write bad reviews. But Garmin has really dropped the ball with the power cable that ships with this unit. The Zumo XT unit is a very good, purpose built GPS. The cable connector that attaches to the device mounting base is the worst quality, poorest design I have seen. The pins fell out within 3 months so the unit will not charge while on the mount. That is inexcusable and will leave someone stranded in the middle of a trip (me for example). On top of this, Garmin must be aware of the problem because replacement cables are backordered 5 to 8 weeks everywhere. So mine must not be the only one. Garmin should do the right thing and fix the design, own up to it and ship replacement cables to owners of the Zumo XT. Shame on Garmin for cutting corners when the iPhone is just a molecule away from finishing off their car/motorcycle business. You would think they would be more concerned.
I purchased two of these one failed after more than a month so no refund or replacement, the other never worked properly so I got a refund. I've used other Garmin products before but these are just no good. Customer service can't help, I spent hours on the phone with them and they can't make it work. I asked for a refund and they told me to return it where I bought it but they won't take it back because it is too late.
Gamin Base Camp is simply a joke. This device has NO means to save trips. It erases trips if it cannot compute the route or you pause programming....hours of work gone with no way to recover. Don't buy this if you're looking for an easy means to navigate. It's by far the most complicated, confusing and overwritten instructions I've ever seen. If you have a degree in software engineering you might be able to build a route, get it loaded to the GPS, then figure out why the Gamin Drive on your IPhone does not recognize anything you have just entered. The GPS is anything but user friendly. Creating a route then making changes is near impossible. Moving the way points around, then adding additional way points to a saved trip is near impossible. It's easy to remove a way point in a route then the entire route is a mess. There are features on the device you'll probably never use nor need on a motorcycle. I never did figure out how to download a GPX file to Base Camp, and they won't tell you how in 25 words or less. Just plan on hours of frustration. It's unfortunate I need a GPS; otherwise I'd go back to a map.
Really disappointed. Received the gps quickly, but it would not power on. eventually tried to turn on but screen would just flash and then shut off. Called Garmin Support - the guy was nice and said "I would return it, if it is doing that now, who knows what will happen later" Asked where I bought it, and I answered the Garmin store on Amazon. He said "we do not sell products on amazon. maybe it is used or something" Very disappointed in the entire thing.
something was wrong with my unit, It would not find a satellite or the internet. I wired my snowmobile, mounted the bracket then it wouldn't work. I am very disappointed after so much time wasted I got a junk Item.
Never liked it from day one but gave it a shot. I just could not relate to and get used to the layout. Ended up using google maps on my phone, so much easier and better. Tried it recently and will not turn on, trying to get help from Amazon and Garmin without any success. Now it's a $500 paper weight.
