Got them free with a deal on Black Friday. I use the Elite 800x wireless with presets including superhuman hearing.
These are ok if you are really wanting to have a quiet time but for gaming or a nice experience it just wont give you anything you want. No surround sound, small drivers, low volume as powered by your controller AA batteries and no bass or treble adjustment. For an XBOX avoid at all costs otherwise you just arent going to enjoy what you play as much
Stopped working for Fortnite on Xbox. None of the fixes in their articles work, yet still strongly promoting this headset as great for Fortnite.
Assume they know there's a problem as they are pumping out a lot of "fixes" for this issue on Twitter (again none of which have helped).
Also online support form doesn't submit at the moment. Why not put up a message saying you aren't accepting messages and save us the trouble of filling out a form only for the submit button not to work (tried in several different browsers too! what a waste of time!)
In short, don't bother.
EDIT: Eventually got help from their support who were very helpful in getting them working. It was a fix that wasn't in any of the online posts. I have increased the review score to reflect this.
This headset has been problematic for me on Xbox. It sometimes creates huge crackling sounds that are almost deafening, but I admit this is worse because of my beaten up controllers. However, the lack of a mute button or specific volume controls is so limiting. It only has a master volume wheel, which means you cannot control the party chat volume separately to the game volume without using the Xbox settings, which are themselves limiting. To mute this headset you must push the microphone arm up all the way, which is hugely inconvenient. Doing so means lots of noise for others in the chat as you smack the microphone to try and move it, and since it only mutes when pushed all the way up and once clicked in, it’s very easy to think you’re muted when the microphone is still on. The quality is pretty average compared to other headsets. Saying all this however, it does work, which is better than most headsets at this price range. Useful if you desperately need a set, but I would save for a better quality item if intended for long term use
I’ve owned many headsets and Turtle Beach isn’t a bad company normally but they don’t last long term. This headset I got because another headset broke within a week and a half and it wasn’t cheap, so I just wanted anything to replace it for now. The headset isn’t uncomfortable, it fits snugly over my ears and I don’t experience any discomfort or pain. The noise cancellation is better then more expensive headsets I’ve owned but typically Turtle Beach headsets have good noise cancellation so I wasn’t surprised. The main issue is the max volume, it is the lowest max volume I’ve ever experienced on a headset. It is not loud even at max volume, all the headsets I’ve ever owned would have made me deaf by how loud it is. Another thing is I swear one ear cup is slightly louder then the other but I can’t confirm that.
Not sure if we have been unlucky as generally Turtle Beach seems to get excellent reviews but I would honestly avoid this brand based upon my experience. This was brought to replace a more expensive Turtle Beach Stealth 600 wireless model which worked for a few days then the microphone stopped working - much to my 8 year old's dismay! He is not heavy on his toys and absolutely then when they arrived treating them very well but then no microphone. These were returned and this model was ordered....... Upon receipt a very excited boy watched me unwrap and plug them in....... and...... no microphone again. I have taken technical advise and cant see that it is a 'settings' issue just inoperable. Shame because both seemed nicely designed and at fair prices.
Was looking forward to getting a “branded” headset for my son. The cable length is far too short for comfortable playing distance from screen. Suppose it doesn’t matter if you can plug it into a handset, but I don’t think it would reach from TV to vouch for most people. Penny pinching from the manufacturer.
Also the mic kept cutting out. Checked all the settings like open mic on the Nintendo Switch. Another generic brand worked fine and had a longer cable.
Loved the auto mute feature on the mic. Really wanted to like this but sadly, outclassed by cheaper generic brands.
Been using these in my pc for my work meetings during lockdown. When working can't fault them however they've started to suffer the dreaded issue of one headphone cutting out if the wire is a certain way after 5 months. For me, that's fine it was just a cheap solution, however these are sat on my desk all the time not being abused and this happened within 5 months, I can't imagine then, that they would last long in a child/teens room when theyre putting them on and off playing games
Worse gaming headset I have ever used. After buying these as a replacement for broken Astro A10s and STUPIDLY thinking they would be of similar quality I was utterly shocked to discover Even my smartphone ear buds sound better than these garbage things. It sounds like your listening trough a tin can on a string!
