2,0 de 5 estrelas Kinda works.

After following the instructions and hooking it into my retro AVS. I was shooting ducks down left and right on my 58 inch HD TV. A little too well in fact. I decided to aim opposite of the ducks and I was still shooting them down. The gun works, but you can't miss the targets. As soon as you pull the trigger the targets go down. This would be perfect if you could acctually aim the gun and had a chance to miss the target. If you can chage up the targeting in the gun you might have the classic Duck Hunt back instead of clicking trigger simulator that you have now.

This worked for me on an LCD TV with the Old Skool Classiq N console and an original Mario Bros/Duck Hunt cartridge. As other reviewers have mentioned, I needed to bring the sensitivity switch the whole way back towards myself. I also needed to calibrate the system by pulling the trigger on the duck hunt menu screen. (pressing up or down on the player 1 dpad will change the time delay. Additionally simply pressing start on the control pad will not calibrate the system. I expect this is the issue for a number of users).

For best results, make sure you are using a higher brightness setting on your TV and that you have minimal background light.

It appears that the Cartridge Adapter simply applies the same patch available from neslcdmod.com.

Cons:
The pin connection on the bottom part of the cartridge adapter is very tight. This is probably good if you have an original system, but when used in combination with a clone system its not ideal. I heard a screeching sound upon inserting it into my Classiq N Console. I'm a bit concerned about extended use since both products were likely made to ensure a tight connection.

On the other hand, the top connector where mario bros/duck hunt is inserted is somewhat loose and tends to easily wobble with slight movement. This will cause the game to glitch if you pull too hard on the controller cord. The light gun cord is rather long though, so this doesn't happen often. I would recommend hitting the reset button any time this happens. In fact, when inserting the game in the cartridge and console, hitting the reset button a few times after slightly tilting the system forward or back was the best way to get everything working (instead of trying to reinsert the game).

Overall, very pleased with the product. It's not perfect, but I would recommend it if you still have a working copy of the original game and want to play it on a modern TV.

I was able to get this to work just fine. I had to set the sensitivity switch all the way toward me and then it registered just fine. I was using this on a super retro trio and the original Mario\Duck Hunt cartridge.

2,0 de 5 estrelas Not for front loaders...
Avaliado nos Estados Unidos em 14 de junho de 2022

I did read reviews discussing compatibility and took a risk.

I may have received a used one since one of the clear circular tape was not on the box and the other looked like it may have been removed and replaced. It was simple to remove without causing creases... but when opening, save for a crease in the instruction pamphlet, it looks completely new.

The instructions Don't say much, unfortunately. But read them for the important bits (which side is up and so on).

The orange dongle's edge connector barely holds the SMB/DuckHunt cartridge in place.

A YouTube review goes into detail on which Duck Hunt cartridges work, as does the instruction booklet. Only the SMB/DuckHunt combo will work.

Only the version that doesn't have the green stripe running along its gold connectors due to the limited depth of the dongle's lack of depth.

I used a Game Genie to help make removal of the dongle from the front loader easier. Otherwise you have to disassemble the NES to pry out the dongle. Which I did as I tried both with and without...

On game load, it almost always freezes. Don't try SMB, the system just resets. The aforementioned YouTube video showed a near-identical freeze pattern on screen and his NES was not the original front-loader model... they switched to a top loader, powered up, saw the black screen, hit reset, then Duck Hunt came up and worked.

I suspect the dongle's poor connection is partially why the game freezes and acts so erratic in the front-loader, or there's something else about the top loaders thst work when the front-loader won't.

Some people have had success and if I get this to work I'll update my review. For now, it's a crapshoot.

4,0 de 5 estrelas Mostly works with lots of fiddling with settings

I am using a 32" Samsung TV and a Retron2HD to use this HD Blaster with. The included cable for Retron2 and Retron 3 use made the blaster shoot by itself or not shoot at all. Was able to get it working without that additional "dongle" / short piece of cable with the blaster plugged direct to my Retron 2 HD. I've watched countless YouTube videos, read the instruction manual, and my experience couldn't be more different. The manual suggested 4-5ft from the TV and under 7ms of delay for smaller TVs (that definition is vague). I managed to get it to work reasonably well and reliably around 6ft-5inches from the TV and 3.1ms of delay in game. I also had the gun set to the middle position for sensitivity. In a well lit room, but no direct light on the TV I was able to register hits and misses. Once in a while it would be totally off and register a hit when I didn't but for the most part it worked good enough. I'm not dedicated enough to retro-gaming to invest in an old CRT so this is as good as it gets. Just wish it had Hogan's Alley compatibility and then it would be perfect in my mind.

The above is not much of a review, but then again, this is not much of a product. It "works only with the specific Super Mario Bros./Duck Hunt" cartridge, and then, not really very well at all with that, if at all. I was sold this product by a local retailer who indicated it would work with 'any of the shooting games' and then promptly went home and ordered a unit for my brother as well, without reading the fine print. Yes, that is on the retailer for lying and on me for not reading the description, but, that's also partly due to the fact that it is fairly unbelievable that there would be something current for sale that only works on one specific 40 year old game which was probably the worst light-gun game ever made, and not with any other games that would normally work with the original zapper. I guess if you happen to have a Mario/Duck Hunt cartridge lying around and want to play it and hit every target without even aiming to impress your friends, this is a good investment. But, if you own the triplicate cartridge, or, the single game cartridge, or any other light gun game, you just bought yourself a shiny blue paperweight.

1,0 de 5 estrelas I was sent a returned item that doesn't work.
Avaliado nos Estados Unidos em 24 de janeiro de 2021

I received a returned product. The original tape seal was restuck under the flap like you would do when you're opening a device for the first time.

The adapter doesn't work, and I can't be sure that it would have if i'd received an unopened product.

I have an original NES in mint condition. And I still have a 30" CRT that I can play it on, and everything works fine, so I have a reference point here.

The cartridge adapter that comes with this gun doesn't seem to be a tight fit. I suspect this was done on purpose, so that it doesn't get stuck inside the deck.
But you can't have loose contacts with this system, that's why they have rebuild connector kits for the NES decks, because it gets loose over time.
After a half hour of messing with the adapter, I gave up.
So I took the light gun, and connected it to my my deck without the adapter, and I was able to play Duck Hunt with it just fine.
So it's not the gun, it's the adapter, and I was not able to get it to work at all. At no point was it ever trying to connect the game to the system.

Blaster feels good and I feel it works fine, but the adapter doesn't work and I tried 3 different cartridges. It says you have to have the Super Mario Bros/ Duck Hunt combo cart to work and it doesn't. And yes, all 3 of my carts work perfectly.

Ok to get this out of the way. 1 this gun only works with duck hunt bundled with maro 2 you have to have the orange Adapter plugged into the system 3 the system has to be the hyperkin hd and the switch on the bottom of the gun has to be pushed up for the gun to work properly. It work very well allmost too well I made it all the way to round 100 and I think I broke the code because the ducks went crazy unless it was Intentional so the game would end properly. But one thing I noticed the gun is pretty light and the barrel is shorter then the nes one it feels like I can break the gun if I squeeze hard enough. So be careful. But it works
