4,0 de 5 estrelas Switch owners read this

Firstly, you won't notice much at first glance. I have done a lot of research AFTER buying this because this was an impulse buy. And honestly it does work as it States but not to the extent people are hoping.
It definitely smooths out and up scales the resolution. Using my Nintendo switch on 720p+mclassic is almost identical to the 1080p w/o mclassic AND almost identical to 1080p+mclassic. Unfortunately for my scenario, that's about it. It won't scale to 2k or 4k. And this is me personally. So switch owners, read on.

The reason I have (and possibly you do to) not noticed or had luck with 2k/4k is because of one primary factor (and one secondary, read after).
Much like me, many people are buying and assuming without researching. Well here's some important information.
The mclassic will only output at a maximum in which both the hdmi cable AND tv support. Now my tv supports 4k NOT 2K. This is a known issue for many consumers.
If your tv doesn't support BOTH 2k AND 4K, this will NOT upscale your switch. ALSO if you use the standard Nintendo hdmi cable (came with switch) heads up, that cable ONLY supports MAX 1080P@60HZ. So even with a 2k tv/monitor, using your Nintendo cable will NOT make it run at 2k.
So key points.
Your display AND hdmi cable must support the output you are going for.
Because my tv doesn't support 2k, this will not skip the resolution and jump from 1k to 4k. It'll only stay at 1k.
Now another important detail.
If you KNOW your tv supports 2k for a fact AND you have the proper HDMI cable then there's an important setting you're missing. You MUST enable a setting on your display for deep color (that's what it's called on LG tv's) which enables 4:2:0 4:2:2& I believe 4:4:4. This enables the 2k resolution setting on the display. Again if you don't do this WITH the proper HDMI cable and NOT the standard Nintendo switch hdmi cable, it won't work.
Again key points:
-Switch hdmi must be a 4k+ rated cable
-Display must support 2k resolution (some 4k displays don't support it, my. Lg tv is an example. Only supports 1k+4k no 2k)
-Display must enable some form of deep color.

Unless you have these three factors, it's not going to work as you hope.
With that said, with my setup of only being able to utilize 1080p w/ the enhancements, it does look good and feel smother (as if the refresh rate is higher) so it does help me. But honestly it's not work $100. At most it's $60. And even for someone without 2k support it should be $40 just for 1080p enhancement. I have no double that marsielle will invent something to assist with this or branch off from this model as he did with the mcable series. Nevertheless this product does work and is great provided you have the proper setup.

3,0 de 5 estrelas Don't expect miracles

I'd read about the mClassic in several online reviews and had hoped that this device would be able to upscale the Switch's 1080p output to 2K. Unfortunately, despite having the correct hardware and 2k/4k cables, this wasn't the case and the device made a negligble improvement to the visuals for me.

That said, it does work under the right conditions: for example if I change the Switch's native output to 720p and turn on the mClassic it does indeed bump up the output to 1080p on the TV, with a noticeble difference to picture quality thanks to the added anti-aliasing and sharpness.

It's also super easy to install, although if the device was a more slender shape it could have sat comfortably inside the Switch's dock - instead you have to use a HDMI extender, which thankfully is included, along with the USB power cable. This means the mClassic hangs rather awkwardly out the back of the Switch's dock, but this does at least give you access to the selector control on the device.

The greatest benefits from the mClassic are likely to be gained from running it with 2nd Gen, 3D consoles such as the PS2, Gamecube, or Dreamcast - it has a retro setting for this purpose to handle their 4:3 output signal. So if that's what you're after, the bump in resolution and added post-processing should make for a much sweeter image overall.

If you're considering this, my advice is to temper your expectations. Yes it does work, but this depends on how you intend to use it. At present I don't think it really justifies the £100 asking price if, like me, you're using this solely to improve the Switch's output to a higher resolution TV.

1,0 de 5 estrelas Doesn’t really work for Switch on a 4k TV
Avaliado no Canadá em 10 de junho de 2020

It doesn’t really work or at least I cannot tell the difference. I’m on a 4k TV while playing xenoblade on the Switch. I was literally comparing the graphics with and without the mClassic and I honestly cannot tell any difference. However its ads clearly shows significant improvement to the quality of the graphics. So if anyone is trying to buy this very expensive product, try setting your expectations low.

1,0 de 5 estrelas Doesn't even come with everything in order to run it properly at all?!!

Exactly how can one ever open up this expensive item and be expected to use it right of the bat? When it lacks the "Wall Plug Charge Adaptor" necessary to even operate it. Also lacking an HDMI cable as well. No product this expensive to buy, should hinder you once you've purchased it. I shouldn't have to read an instruction manual to find out that i also have more money to obtain other essentials which should've come with the item i've already spend lots of money on. Like the bloody USB Wall Plug Adaptor (rolls eyes) Wow rip me off before i can even get the damn thing to work yet.

Don't suppose the company; 'Marseille' would metaphorically; advertise a nice 'sport car' for sale, i buy it only to find out later, when its delivered, i'd also have to spend money on 4 new car tires in order to finally drive it around however, right?! - See what i did there?, EXACTLY!!!

So i hope folks pay caution to the fact you need to have a USB Wall Plug Adaptor purchased ahead of time. As this product doesn't tell you beforehand, inwhich you'd need in order to get the device to eventually work. And also an additional; HMDI cable is missing from the package itself. Sorry but 1 star i.e. "Awful", this was a terrible buy, if i'm told i may require additional 'bits & ends' of materials before i can actually have the damn item working at all. The device itself may turn out to be great, but how would folks even come to know this, if you buy a product and it tells you inside to buy more parts to have it eventually work? (again, look at my "sports car" metaphor!) etc. Hope whomever finds this useful, as now i'll have to get hold of the other additional parts, before any true review of the; "mClassic" can be made by me once again. So disappointing American products do this sort of thing and don't even inform customers ahead of time on the item itself with any; "disclaimers" whatsoever, nor on the websites via a cautionary warning and so on.

4,0 de 5 estrelas Good product, expensive. Recommended for older consoles.

Overall, a decent product considering its ease of use, albeit a little expensive. HDMI on the dongle is a little loose when plugged into console compared to HDMI cable, can fall out easier with any movement. Anyways, for PS4 I didn't see much of an improvement at all, I had to look for the changes. Not worth the price for modern consoles. However for PS3 it really shines. PS3 outputs most games in 720p. The Mclassic upscales it to 1080p, and sharpens the jagged edges while adding a smoothing effect. It's rather impressive, and looks much better on a 55" 4K display than the raw 720p. Although, not every game on PS3 benefitted as much, it was sort of a hit or miss. The games I found to benefit the most were open world or smaller open sandbox style games. 2D pixel art, or even 3D side scrollers weren't as impressive. Scenery containing defined edge objects like trees, bricks, rocks, tiles, etc had noticeable improvements. Jagged lines on a longsword for example that should've been straight, appears cleaned up too.

Additionally, I did try the product in conjunction with my Retrotink 2X for PS2. It did "Smooth" out the jaggys a little more. But it didn't impressive me as much as it did for the PS3. Perhaps the Retrotink 2X Pro would be a better candidate to combine it with.

I plan to try the product with a PlayStation Vita TV, where I expect some improvement there as well. Overall I recommend this product for consoles that output 720p and below. For consoles that are already 1080p, the benefits are so minimal that it doesn't justify the price. I heard people with 1440p monitors have found a benefit utilizing the Mclassic with PS4. But I can't test that as I don't own a 1440p monitor.

There is a notable difference in the display on the Nintendo switch. Graphics look sharper and colours look brighter. It’s not a massive difference and I don’t know if the price justifies the differences but if you have the cash to spare then give it a try as you might be surprised at the difference in your games. Or you could wait for the switch pro which is coming soon.

Where do I start?

I paired it with a EON Super 64 for my Nintendo 64 and Gamecube. It doesn't make a huge difference but it cleans up the image a bit. It is definitely better.

I paired it with my Wii U. It is doing a very good job at upscaling to 1080p and removing all the jaggies.

I paired it with my PS3. I am still not sure if I should force my PS3 to 720p but I did it and ended-up with similar results as of the Wii U.

In both cases (Wii U and PS3) you can basically say that this device will take a 720p image and make it look-a-like a native 1080p image. It will also clean-up most aliasing and make the image a bit more crisp and defined. It is better.

Finally, I paired it with my PS2... and it is depressing. Basically, when I can get 480p over HDMI it works really well and I mean, really well. But the majority of games on that system are 480i only. If you look at the conversion table provided by Marseille, all interlaced resolutions are basicaly passed trough withouth any upscaling or anti-alisaing.

What would it be if the mClassic applied a bob deinterlacing algorithm to make the image progressive and then upscaled and antialiased it? I don't know but I would be VERY happy right now if it did that indeed. Instead, I must fiddle with GSM or with a PS2 HDMI cable that poorly does this conversion job prior to my mClassic. Oh well.

Is this device worth it? I would be inclined to say yes but it is definitely pricey.

This think is amazing. Used on ps3. Upscales to 4k. The image looks far better.
Would give a 5 star but the company used Hermes. They delivered two days late, after paying delivery to get it early for a gaming day with the children

As you can see from my photos it made absolutely zero difference with my N64. (Photos are in off, and then one in each mode) Same with all my retro consoles. Only gave 2 stars at it did make a slight, and I mean only slight, difference when using my Xbox 360. Wasn't really bothered about the 360, was hoping my retro games would be less blurry on my 43' screen with this device, but doesn't even do that. Maybe something to do with my scart to HDMI converter?

5,0 de 5 estrelas Great for GameCube, some improvement on Switch
Avaliado no Reino Unido em 19 de março de 2021

I bought this device primarily to improve the experience of playing my Nintendo Gamecube on my 43" 4K TV. I paired it with a Kaico HDMI adapter and the results are pretty impressive. The mClassic upscales the 576p signal out of the Kaico to 1080p. Edges are clearly defined and the image almost appears to "glow". I was really surprised how much cleaner the image looked.
I also tried the mClassic out with my Switch also running at 1080p. As you would expect the results here were not as dramatic, but there was still a noticeable improvement in the 2 games I tried. Cleaner edges and a sharper picture.
Shopping from Amazon US was super quick at 4 days from ordering to having it in my hand. Cannot complain!
