Great gameplay and super fun running around shooting stuff. The story felt kind of short and not as good as BL2.
Cons: Multiplayer is awful, tho. Almost impossible to match-make with anyone even with a fast internet connection. Regarding the story, it's Political Correctness pushed down your throat to the point the story is just bad.
Game needs some serious patches.. I’m playing on PS4 Pro and my frame rate is tanking like I’m running it on my Vita.... The writing and one liners are spot on so far but obviously this game is far from being optimized on release.
Okay I’m a guy and I like gaming, this game didn’t speak to me. I felt like Mario constantly hopping worlds saving girls whom we are told could have done the job themselves but surprisingly need your help. While it’s nice to be wanted there’s like no guys so the humor is gonna be overwhelming targeting girls. If I’m being honest with myself then yeah it’s a buzz kill running around trying to figure out what girl needs my help next. Feels like a woke city game. I’m half way through and I’ve played at least 15 hours. I think it’s targeting women gamers and I’m happy that there are female gamers. Just wish someone would have told me before I plopped down sixty bucks. Just tell me next time this is targeting new gen female gamers and I’ll save my money.
It's fun to play, but it feels like a game that was made without the passion that flows through the 2nd installment. The characters and plot is sort of just shadows of previous ideas from the franchise. I care less about the world and the characters.
On the positive, the gun system is bigger than ever, and the mechanics are fun. The bosses are wildly different in difficulty. One will be a cakewalk, the next will be brutally hard. Some are fun, others are more frustrating.
I've run into one glitch which makes one side mission impossible to complete.
It’s fun. If you like internet humor, you’ll probably laugh a few times (I don’t, so I didn’t). It’s harder than 2 was. The shooting gameplay is solid after about five hours in. Early on, there is a limited selection of weapon types and your character can’t carry as much ammo. Between that and the mostly melee-type enemies, the first few hours are more hectic than fun. It gets a lot better the longer you play, but the slower start hurts the replay value. Overall, I recommend it to people who like both shooters and action-RPGs, but not to people who only like one of those.
The original Borderlands was one of those games that I wasn’t sure I would like when I first started playing, but it quickly grew on me with its humor and fun game play. Now, it has been 5 long years since I last played B2, so I was looking forward to getting my Borderlands fix with this one. I will say that even though this series has grown on me, I don’t like the series as much as I do, similar games such as Fallout, Skyrim or Far Cry, but it does have its moments and is enjoyable.
Really my biggest complaint to the game is that it is more of the same with not really enough new editions to give this game a distinct feel from the previous two I have played. Graphics are better on the PS4 of course, but a lot of the environment feels one dimensional and there as filler. A lot of the same creatures are back and some of the same quests repeated as past games and some of the bosses are hit and miss in terms of fun to battle. The humor is still there as is the wide variety of weapons, although maybe too much variety in this case. Some of the characters of old are back as well, but feel a little flat in some instances.
Some of the same bugs and annoyances are back too. Graphic glitches and things of that nature which are minor, but one thing I hate is vehicle controls are extremely annoying. Maybe I had forgotten it in past games, but 5 years later and my patience is a little thin with that.
The menus are a bit cluttered and the menus and skills section could be cleaner and easier to navigate.
I do think that this game is the weakest of the series mainly because it does too little too improve on the previous installments and it feels too much like the same thing over in a bit larger map. With that being said though, if you are a fan of the previous, you will most likely enjoy this one. To me, there just isn’t enough improvements and differences to make this game stand out from the others. I like it, but it isn’t my favorite of the series.
Mostly seems like a poor attempt at re-packaging Borderlands 2 except the jokes and gags and humor is incredibly forced and usually not funny at all. Oh and the plot is @#!$. Did they use different writers?? Considering how @#$@ing hilarious Borderlands 2 and all of it's DLCs were, kind of sad actually to think what BL3 could have been.
BUT the actual game play itself is exactly everything you've come to expect from a Borderlands game from the frenetic fighting to the over-the-top guns and awesome vehicles and satisfying crits and intricate talent trees.
If you like the Borderland games and want more, then this is for you!
Borderlands 1 and 2 were great. Inventive. Immersive. Funny. A joy to play with lots to discover. B3 is a lot of running and collecting and getting lost on map without the joy and humor. What in B1-B2 was fun has been replaced with repetition. Maybe it will get better but it has become more slog than game play. Sigh.
Honestly I’m really torn on this title. The gameplay is fantastic and everything I could’ve hoped for in a sequel to one of my favorite games of all time. But the story is just god awful. So many disappointments, plot holes, and parts that made me wanna scream because of how bad the writing was. If you buy this game, make sure you understand what you’re getting into. I’m glad I didn’t buy the premium versions.
As others have said, stupid story line to the point of being distracting with them popping in while I'm doing other things. They should fire the script writer. The other problem with it is after a few hours of play, my eyes are shot for the rest of the day. Don't know if it's the neon colors or frame rates, etc., but it's something specific with this game.
