This headset is meh. Had the A10s and upgraded to these as the A10s really hurt the top of my head. These aren't much better. They still hurt the top of my head after about an hour or so. (The foam pad that rests on the top of your head has already collapsed, making it feel like there's barely any padding at all. They also fit really loose. If I lean forward to pick something up off the ground, they try to slide off.
Sound quality is really good, but thats really the only good thing about these.
In the end im finding it really hard to justify the $200+ plus price tag.
Title says it all alone. I unboxed these after waiting a week and boy was I disappointed. Some people on here are very picky and i will say the quality did not seem poor! But if you’re gonna label something as “compatible” it needs to come with all the parts in order to do so. Without an amp or cable splitter (tried 1 cable splitter and it didn’t even work) you will not be able to use the mic and headset at the same time!
Let's start with the good. The only big A I will give these headphones is for comfort and breathability.
The ear cushions covered with fabric are very comfy and even those the headphone feel a bit heavy, I think it would be comfy for hours, I did not keep them for hours, I just put them back in the box and returned them once I heard the sound quality.
The bads: the sound quality is not nearly close to acceptable for an headphone at that price point. To be honest, I don't think it would be acceptable for half the price. I don't know what they thought when they designed such a nice headset and fitted low quality speakers into it.
Noise insulation: none. Headphones on or not makes no difference, they do not have any insulation, but this may not be a problem, many people prefer that.
I have just the headphones, not the MixAmp included, and on my phone and console, it doesnt even sound as good as the A10s lol. Quality YES but TBH I cant tell the difference in volume or bass. But on PC with either Dolby Atmos For Headphones or DTS Headphones: X it sounds SO much better, I dont think I even need the Mixamp for PC but I might get it just for the manual adjust being convenient for Console play aswell, dont like adjusting to the difference when I switch. Especially considering all my 4K and HDR movies are on my Xbox, seeing as on PC I can only get TRUE HDR10 on Netflix lol what a joke
Great headset but it has many drawbacks. For the price, I'd expect some sort of volume knob built into the chord if people do not choose to purchase mix amp. I'm forever going into the Xbox menu to lower volume which is a huge headache. Headset slides around alot but is very comfortable. Mic quality is nice but I'm always having to reset the mic as my friends hear alot of wind feedback through it. It also squeaks alot when adjusting as the build is plastic which again is disappointing given the price tag. Never buying an astro but glad I tried it out.
After my cheap Logitech headphones broke from about 4 months of general use I got the A40's suggested from a friend. He said he had his for around 2 years already with slight wear and tear but no serious problems. This was an instant sell to me as I wanted a pair of reliable and strong headphones with some good quality sound. And boy was I surprised by them. The delivery was quick within 2 days of ordering them I had them at my doorstep. Upon opening the package I am blown away with the quality of them. There is a good weight to them, they felt very strong and didn't give way much. The weight isn't a burden and they sit comfortably on my head with a little bit of play so they don't pierce your head. The sound quality is amazing, I haven't tried out the microphone yet. The sides of the headphones have interchangeable plates so you can customize them and even change the side the microphone sits on. Since I have a desk microphone I took the headset one off easily. Overall these are a great set of headphones, but that's obvious with the price.
This headset feel heavy on the head and the sound is a bit muffled / lacks clarity. I bought these strictly to use for video calls for my work, hoping to improve my setup. Turns out these headphones sound much less clear than my almost 20 years old pair of Sennheiser 570 (not even a high end model from Sennheiser), which I used in conjunction with the integrated webcam microphone. Microphone quality of the Astros is an improvement though, so I may keep them, but all-in-all they are a bit disapointing.
great headset, super comfy and loud. my only complaint would be that you don’t have a physical chat mixer on the auxiliary wire. luckily they sell the mixer as well but it’s well over $100.. not a big problem at all because you can use the consoles built in headset mixer although slightly inconvenient. that being said, it’s a great headset and that’s the only problem i was able to think of.
TLDR: Sound is great for the amateur gaming I use it for, but the comfort level could be much better for headphones in this price range. (bought on sale for 169.99)
The sound from these headphones for gaming on an Xbox series X is great especially with the dolby atmos app in use. I am very happy with the simulated surround sound, as a non audiophile. I had an old pair of Turtle beach XO Three's and the sound is far superior. That being said my old XO three's are way more comfortable and blocked the ambient noise around me better. The bar over the top of these headphones becomes mildly uncomfortable after about 30 mins to an hour and the earpieces make your ears pretty hot in about the same amount of time. It feels good to take them off after gaming. I never had that relief after using my XO threes. While these headphones are easily adjustable with many settings they just seem to fit "Tight"
Poor quality especially for the price. Left side started crackling a month or two after purchase with certain sound ranges, wires in the cord easily get twisted up as my voice can sound low to my friends and once I move the cord around it fixes itself, squeaking as I move my jaw which drives me nuts... Buy a $40 headset this is not worth your money boys.
