Missing on web site is the instructions inside the box: To ensure stable connections, connected devices should not exceed a combined current of 900 mA. Devices are usually rated as follows: Mouse IOO mA Camera 300mA Keyboard 500 mA External Hard Drive 900 mA I needed 2 external HD I'll get a more appropriate model. I have other Anker products which I like, so I'm sure there is something. Have to also check the computer USB 3 specs
I have my gaming keyboard and my msi gh50 headphones plug into this as it totals 600Ma and the limit on this device is 900ma so unfurtunatly I cannot plug anything els into this otherwise it will max out and disconnected does explain in instructions
do make sure how much power draw your equipment uses
for example your limit is 900ma
corsair Iron claw mouse 500Ma Msi gh50 headphones 100ma keyboard 500ma spectra xbox controller 500ma Total =1600ma

As many others found themselves Working From Home thanks to COVID-19 I discovered that an inconvenient corollary of modern laptops is that they don't have enough USB ports for all the new peripherals I need to connect up to it to replicate an office set up. Cue the need for this USB hub. Now my requirement was simply for some more USB 3.0 ports, I use an XPS 15. The dongle itself is very light, the cable has the traditional thick rubbery feel of Anker's basic products and is sufficiently long to snake around a laptop for example. It's flat angular design means some edges are sharper than you'd expect but considering this'll be lying at the bottom of a stack of cables, it isn't too much of a drain. One important thing to consider is this has power implications that are included in the box. Connect a USB charger for your phone and you'll see that the phone chargers extremely slowly. So for my use I've limited it to connected USB peripherals like keyboard, mice and the wireless receivers for those devices
Just got the HUB delivered today and so far I am very pleased with it. It came in minimal packaging which delighted me because sometimes I get unnecessarily big parcels for really small items. In the HUB's box you find a little guide which gives you a rough idea of how many USB devices you should have connected simultaneously in the HUB depending on the device's mA (milliampere). So I have done a few quick tests on the HUB by copying large files (HD movies) from my USB 3.0 external drive to my laptop's SSD via a USB3.0 port, and the consistency was there. I got same speeds of ~105MB/s in both cases (when connecting the HDD directly to the laptop and when connecting it through the HUB. Only had two HUB ports populated during tests: the HDD and my mouse, in order to make sure connection is stable and I don't go over the recommended threshold for using this HUB of ~900mA. Will endeavour to re-post few months down the line after I have used the hub in different kind of situations and port population combinations.
It is light weight, it is in budget, it is 3.0 hub but make sure that whatever you want to connect with this device, it should be common devices like mouse, keyboard, headphones, or usb sticks (pendrives). If you connect heavy devices like external drives, they might disconnected now and then but that's not an issue for me. And yes make sure that you do not enable power saving by disconnecting this device checked in your Device Management list or else it will keep disconnecting. Windows 10 had is option from starting, so make sure to uncheck it from Manage > Device Management > usb hub > power management > uncheck the box. Also the customer service is very good from Anker amd they will respond within a day or two. Very good product for students or gamers!
Anker products are very well made, I have several and selected this item as a preference. The hub is small, slim - very compact and it has a reasonable cable length. There is a version with a shorter cable and such is the quality of this item that my son purchased the short cable version immediately on seeing it. I have not marked the tech support as I have never needed them for any of my Anker products. Quality 5 star = tech support not needed.
