The Givi tool box is well made and clearly robust enough to avoid shattering even if hit by a stone whilst riding off road. Deceptively large volume and the internal central divider is a nice touch to separate tools. The locking mechanism (made of metal) appears to be substantial enough but I would say that where the locking mechanism slots into the box itself that that area could've been reinforced with metal as well rather than having a thin cutout section made from the hardened plastic. This may be an area of weakness vulnerable to breaking into.
I fitted this to the frame on my sidecar to carry a few essential tools on my trips. I made my own brackets which were easy enough to do. It sits firmly in place and provides about 5litres of storage. It has a locked entry which is secure and watertight. It's all plastic but it's robust and solid so like all Givi accessories I own will last for years. I particularly like the cover that keeps grit/water/dust out of the anyway. Delighted.
as with all universal fitting kits, they fit nothing correctly. I purchased this to fit on a Triumph Explorer, the factory panniers are manufactured by Givi but are not the same fittings as Givi's own pannier kits. The S250 toolbox will fit with a little modification of the brackets and triming of the plastics. The finished fitted toolbox looks good and is practical addition storage.
I got the polymet version as it's likely to withstand hits more than an aluminium model, and maintain it's waterproofing - similar idea to soft vs. hard panniers (but don't worry, the box isn't soft). It's spacious enough inside for lots of tools, has a handy shelf and nice locking key.
I have checked out a lot of tool tubes etc., but the locking versions are the best for my needs and this has so far been over some rough ground without any issues.
Well this is a neat little unit with the emphasis on little !!!. All I can fit in it is a pump ( Airman) bought specifically for it and a puncture repair kit ( stop an go plugged kit) ....I feel it could have been a little bigger or even another bigger version available.....I made up my own fittings which was straightforward enough
Holding the little o-rings in place whilst fitting the box was very tricky, GIVI should supply some spares for this. It is a very tight fit on the Honda ATAS and it touches when fitted, but does fit. The box is sturdy and the key-lock can be replaced to match the GIVI boxes.
I've been looking for a toolkit to suit and fit my 2016 Bonneville T120 and this is just the job (you'll need to have a pannier rack fitted if you're going to fit one yourself). It's sturdy and secure and just big enough for a toolkit and small electric tyre pump. Fits in nicely without spoiling the looks of the bike.
