Telltale Games went under a while back and while most of their games are supported still, GoG is not one of them. It’s no longer listed on the Telltale website. One of the best features of Telltale games was seeing how your choices stacked up against everyone else’s that ever played the game. The servers no longer exist for GoG so you get an error when refreshing those stats at the end of each episode. However, you can get all the episodes and the game is playable with all achievements still. There is a game-breaking bug in chapter 3 where you can’t listen to the backstory of a newly introduced character. You have to choose “skip it” as the cut scene doesn’t play with the backstory choice, preventing you from moving forward and requires a chapter restart to fix. The story is good though and meshes well with GoG lore.
For those wondering about the status of the availability of this game, since it's no longer supported by the now-defunct Telltale and no longer available on the Xbox store, this disc will let you get all 5 episodes, as of the day I got it at least (Oct 20th, 2020). The only real trick was to delete the game off my Xbox and do a fresh install off of the disc. That brought up all 5 episodes in the queue, and I've already made sure that yes, they work.
Now I've also heard there's some sort of glitch in Episode 3, but I suppose I'll deal with that when I get there. Important thing is, purchasing this disc gets you all 5 episodes, regardless of what you owned before, as long as you remove the game from your console and then do a new install upon inserting the disc. Good luck!
And as for the game itself, I agree with pretty much everyone on here, if you liked the films you'll enjoy this. It's a bit weird that they're a bit different from the movie actors but hey, it's better than the recent Avengers game mess.
Completed the game and I must say it's one of the best telltale games out there. The story was so great that it could be it's own stand-alone movie. Very awesome job with the story on this game, if you are a telltale game or are looking to purchase this game, it is worth it.
When you get to like the 3rd chapter in the game a cut scene is suppose to trigger but it doesnt. Now that by itself doesnt sound so bad however you cant progress any further in the game until that cut scene happens. And in order to make that happen you have to take your xbox offline which is ridiculous since this game has been out for as long as it has and the developers never put out a patch for it.
I'm a bit upset I paid for the full game through xbox and it was delisted. Buying this copy not only allows me to play the whole game, but, once installed, I do not have to leave the disk in the console. Chapter 3 bug is still there, just skip the cutscene. Beyond that I'm estatic I could finally play the whole game.
Bought this for my sister's birthday. It installed with the CD the first time. Then we would try to launch it the title would come up and then dashboard. That's all I could get from it. I checked online for details to fix the problem and there wasn't any info, but we were not the first to come upon the problem. So I uninstalled and went to the store and installed it there (with disk in so it still downloaded for free). Now it actually launches the game. A bit frustrating but there is a solution.
I love the GOTG and really enjoyed playing through this. The gameplay is fairly basic, but it is like having new chapters of the Guardians story unfold based on your choices. Definitely worth it for die hard fans.
