Most items you buy come in manufacturer packaging. This battery came in a small brown cardboard delivery box and was wrapped in brown filler paper, as if it was not new. I cannot give this as a gift. It looks as described (like the pictures) but I'm reasonably sure Dewalt packages their products. I am sure it will need to return it. This review in NO way represents how the product works, as it hasn't been used. However, having it arrive wrapped in paper in a non-descript box feels completely inappropriate. Particularly for such a well known brand and a $150 product!!
I have a ton of yellow and black tools (Dewalt). I love their tools and especially like the idea they have gone above and beyond to make new batteries work with older tools (i.e., 20V Max to 18V adapter). I purchased a lawn trimmer and blower - both which use the new Flex Volt battery. Not wanting the weight of the 9.0 battery on the trimmer, I purchased this 6.0 Flex Volt battery - assuming it was brand new. It worked for a couple of months. As it's moving out of winter, I only used the battery / trimmer twice. It did charge in the charger once. Last week I needed to charge it up after doing a spring clean of front yard, and it wouldn't charge. Only the first test light goes on. When placed into any of my chargers, the light blinks 2-3 times then stays on. Tried leaving for over 48 hours - no change. Checked online and it appears the battery is "done." I have contacted Dewalt, but when I was asked for the serial number, etc., off the battery I noted an inscribed "R" by serial number . . . it's a refurbished battery. So beware folks, the seller here "Globally Sourcing" is sending out refurbished / remanufactured batteries. Their description does not specify, but y'all should know. Bummer as I wasted a hundred bucks!
Doesn't work after a 2 weeks of low usage. Has still one bar left and works in a tool but doesn't take any charge anymore. Amazon doesn't provide return for these items so it seems(past 30days from purchase) even though it should be under warranty.
