Frame rate Drops kill an otherwise great title from Bethesda. Fundamentally it's a pretty great fallout title, it's more shoot now, ask questions later than RPG. However reviewing the game with the issues that still plague it is moot. The game constantly stutters, and lags to all hell; which is a shame really because the gun mechanics have been refined and it's hard to appreciate this added refinement when the game isn't able to provide the fluidity needed.
This review is about why I gave it three stars. First of all the game is amazing except that I have literally put in weeks/months of game play only to have the game glitch out resulting in losing everything. This happened not once, but three separate occasions. I can not begin to express my frustration. I would love it if someone could tell me how to fix this or perhaps the seller could send me a non glitchy copy of this game. I would love to actually have the chance to finish the game.
Great game for the first playthrough. However, the ending was unsatisfying, and the developers really overused the "go here and kill things" quest premise.
I really wanted to like it, but when I tried giving it a second playthrough and it was just exhausting. I'm still replaying fallout new Vegas and fallout 3 to this day so I think Bethesda dropped the ball with fallout 4.
Great visuals, seems like great gameplay... just not my style I guess? I don't know nothing really drew me in to the story. Maybe 5/10 story and 9/10 gameplay. Fun enough to pass time, just nothing I'd truly recommend.
No where near as good as previous Bethesda games. Its a buggy mess to be honest, even by their standards. Uneventful, weak story, few enemy varieties Honestly Bethesda should be ashamed of this game, especially coming off of Skyrim which set the bar sky high. So many quests will bug out on you, forcing you to constantly load old saves, many of these quests will stay broke and are game braking ones to boot. Honestly I had a late game quest completely stop working, couldnt activate one of the steps and theres no fix on line. I was forced to go further and further back in my saves, finally wound up loosing around 8 hours of play time. and when i finally got back to this quest it was STILL bugged. save your money people. buy something else.
I have thoroughly enjoyed previous versions of Fallout and while I have played F4 to almost completion, I have to tell you, it isn't up to the standard set by the early games. Here is my summary:
1. Graphics are very good and the whole impression of the world is well-done from a visual perspective. I'll give the studio a solid 5 stars for that. 2. Missions are repetitive and boring. There might actually be a glitch but I had to perform the same "kidnap/rescue mission" several times. That was odd (yes, I know how to save along the way and that is not the problem....) 3. Beware if you play missions out of synch. You'll find yourself standing in full-power armor asking a leader in the Brother of Steel how you can get power armor. Very annoying. 4. The foul language is a little overdone. Reminds me of people who think they are cool by posting vulgar words in their posts on Facebook. Really not necessary. Character dialogue is stilted in its delivery and honestly the actual content is pretty amateurish. 5. Load time between scenes/rooms etc is horrifically slow. (I have a new Xbox One if that makes any difference). 6. The actual storyline feels redundant (I'd give more detail, but I don't want to spoil this for anybody... let's just say that as you play it you'll start seeing the familiarity from other games/movies/stories... )
So, I was a little disappointed. I guess the anticipation for something spectacular and the hype behind the game might have caused some of that. Still, this is a playable game and does have some great moments. Just don't expect to be wowed.
