It's decent, though it is merely a mirage in the concepts of the past. Call of Duty has branched off over the years, it is no longer the same game. Jetpacks, cringe emotes/dances when you win and zombie maps that aren't that fun for a casual player.
I myself prefer the older zombie maps, without all these flying-bats, 3-headed type demons running at me, but I must admit if I'm in the mood for something different I go for it, I just find it irritating that there's no 'original zombie mode' for when me and my friends wanna just chill out and open a few mystery boxes without 'special rounds' and dolphin dives, but hey, gaming evolution I suppose, we're in the evolution of gaming where gaming companies do not listen to reviews nor criticisms from even their best fans.
If you can put up with the "next-gen" ideas that Activision have mustered up, then this is the game for you.
If you cannot stand jetpacks, cringe emote/dances, stupid amounts of DLC and zombie maps that aren't fun to just jump into, this game isn't for you.
I don't really play it myself, even after years of playing Call of Duty, if I could go back in time and not buy it, I probably would.
Reason I gave it is 3 stars is I prob small minority Tha buys these games mainly to play the campaign. Played everyone since cod 3 only ones I played and enjoyed mw series online which still play now. Based on campaign start off good amazing graphics over the top cut scene which plague the the latest release of cod games. To the end if was a cross between a shooter ww1 shooter and a scene out of a fairytale movie best I best I can describe it without ruining the end. This game has completely put me off cod will buy ww2 as normal. Play the battlefield series now I sold this game and bought bf1 which is alot better my advice buy bf1 if want a good campaign. Avoid cod bo4 if want a campaign as their not one. 50quid for a game that useless when server closed leased it had a 6hour campaign. Be better than nothing
This game firstly arrived in great condition and I'm very happy that I got it for £20 in a sale. I've given it this rating for the quality of the game itself rather than the condition it arrived in.
Single Player: The single player was a better experience than I was expecting, Positives being that I actually liked choosing my own layout for each mission and having the multiplayer customisation experience put into the campaign, also the story is much better than some of the previous COD entries. However the pacing was garbage, it took around 6-7 hours of explosions and stale missions before things actually got interesting, even then the story tried to overcomplicate itself (I had to google the ending to understand what happened fully). As soon as the sotry started going I became more and more motivated to finish the campaign. Difficulty has been well balanced, very few difficulty spikes although the realistic difficulty is a bit much. Veteran is bad enough, but getting killed in one shot gives you no chance at all of progressing in a fun and challenging manner. At the end of the day this was a strong campaign and a definite step in the right direction in terms of storyline.
Multiplayer: Didn't do much to separate itself from other entries. Felt like I was playing Black ops 2 or Advanced warfare DLC than a separate game. Maps are uninspired, only 1 new game mode where you escort a robot to a certain destination which suffered big balancing problems. It was almost impossible to keep the robot from moving toward the destination when on the opposing team. Gun models looked far too similar to previous entries. Good effort with the class systems, but I felt like it wasn't really enough to separate it out from other games, except when the prophet class does the cheapest new move... travelling back 5-6 seconds before you shoot them to then take you out when you should have got the kill. So overall it was a mediocre online multiplayer that needs some more innovation to make it stand out.
Zombies: I'm personally getting a bit sick of zombies, it has been overused in COD. But I think this mode was very entertaining and expanded well on the existing formula. With more monsters, more secrets to discover and cool map designs. A solid experience.
Overview: Average game with a strong single player and zombie element. 6/10 rating from me.
Please note: I did not get any DLC for this game so I have not included that in this review.
Delivered quickly! This is a great game for those who like offline play for 1 to 4 players. Firstly the campaign is immersive and great fun to play with the bonus of adding a controller and getting the person next to you to join in! Zombies is well zombies up to 4 players as you'd expect. But what we enjoy most is the offline multiplayer with bots! Absolute great fun, and a definite recommendation!
The game didn't arrive for ages at first. I contacted amazon who had another sent out to me with a different courier which arrived in just a day so great customer service! The game itself is sub standard as any call of duty game is as you know yourself. I did enjoy it though, mainly played online but the story line was fun and engaging. Overall product was as it says it is.
If you like all this flying about BS and running up walls then go for it. This is not boots on the ground proper Call of Duty like MW2 and MW3. Wait until November 2017 and buy the latest one coming out. Back to basics.
If you can get this for free you have paid too much .if you like seeing people run round with one op gun(razorback) on EVERY map regardless of the size that out guns anything then this is the game for you. If you like being in cover and getting shot this game is for you. If you like people spawning next to you this game is for you . If you lie having to look in 87 directions at once including behind yourself every five seconds this game is for you . and lets not forget the exo suits .it is big step backwards in the cod franchise,I played the beta and still bought this so called balanced game so i only have myself to blame for losing money ..
Once again another Call of Duty game. Mostly the same as previous iterations but with a slightly different movement system. Nothing really changes with these games, but yet I still buy them every year. I waste hours upon hours of my life on this game! And being rather good at it, I do really enjoy it! Multiplayer is definitely the staple of this game, However single player is worth a try too! However it feels a little bit lost and lack lustre really. Where the main focus is online you can definitely tell!. Where as previous COD games had a better story. But lets be honest you buy this for online, which is once again as i say, much the same online as the other games. But it is enjoyable nonetheless!
As someone who has played COD since world at war i can say the franchise has indeed taken a sharp turn for the worst, gone are the days where guns were balanced and playing required tactical thinking and positioning. No instead you can just fly around the map with a jet pack and be destroyed by that one gun that trey arch inexplicably buffed to OP levels. The new weapons have made this game essentially P2W with many guns essentially locked behind the cryptokey paywall as their chances of being found normally are so low. Ultimately, stay away from this game, stay away from this franchise and instead spend you money on games that deserve such as the witcher 3.
Online is laggy as hell. Could be my own connection, maybe not. Not as fun as when I played the beta. Haven't played much campaign at the moment. But not really feeling sucked it. Maybe I've finally gotten bored with call of duty. I enjoyed advanced warfare but eventually got bored with that.
Update: connection seems to be better now. There's a huge amount of added detail and things to black ops 3. It's not like any other cod game. From the sheer smount of visual customisation in campaign to online, to weapon customisation and 4 player co op which I haven't yet played. Still find the story hard to get into but the game is definitely an improvement to the cod formula. Not sure the traversal online is as fun as advanced warfares though. Being able to jump high and slide was far more fun then the wall running and jumping in black ops 3
