Good game. Awesome story. I just don't give 5 stars because during the game the choices we can make fell a bit flat. Like doesn't matter what you choose nothing really changes in the story. Even the actions fell the same way.
The Wolf Among Us matches The Walking Dead in quality - so if you're only checking this out because you enjoyed TWD, don't be fooled into thinking this is a "less than" situation. While I haven't read the comics of the same name, it seems obvious that Telltale gave this franchise a lot of careful consideration and loving appreciation. The theme music and opening sequence are stunning, and will ground you in the setting before every episode. The violence, profanity and innuendo from TWD are all here, also - though with their own "bad part of town" vibe. This is still NOT a kids game - and it is rated M, meaning its intended audience is 17yrs and older. Every character you speak with and every place you visit seem dirty somehow, which is fitting for a story about fables struggling to stay hidden in plain sight. Big B. Wolf (the playable character) doesn't change and grow up like Clementine did in TWD, but the choices you make impact the fables around you in pretty serious ways that pay off in the end. Last note: unlike TWD games on consoles, you don't automatically get 100% completion for finishing Wolf Among Us. So I do recommend taking your time and examining every you come across - doing so will fit out your 'Book of Fables' which is basically an in-game encyclopedia. You need a completed Book of Fables to get 100%, but it's very easy to do.
I thought this would be a cheesy kind of choose your own adventure game. Boy was i wrong. First off the story is phenomenal. It is violent, dark and has tons of twists and turns My kind of story, but definately not for kids. Lots of choices to be made that actually do matter to the story line. The game does take awhile to play. It is not one of those done in an hour or tow games. Do yourself a favor and pick this game up (it's cheap now) you wont be sorry. Can't wait to replay and make different choices and see how it ends up. **Oh and i didn't have any technical issues at all. Game was slow to load a couple times, but that was it.**
The package it came in was kind of opened, along with a couple more video games. But for the game itself. The game was okay. I've finished this game already. What's positive about it? I love the drawing, story telling, and the acting of the characters And you get to decide where the story goes by the decisions you make. What's negative about it? It's kind of like you're not playing a video game. It's like you are watching a tv show, pressing buttons through the story to talk and only one fight scene in every episode. I think it's a solid video game. I never played a game like this before and I may even try "The Walking Dead: Season One" down the road. Verdict, I give this game 7.3 out of 10.
The game has a contemporary urban setting, so you won't be seeing the girls in country dresses. But the silver linging is that they'll be showing a lot of leg in this engaging and charming mystery story. You play the Wolf, who is far from being a villain for the most part. He and Snow White team up in an effort to solve a couple of chilling murders. The graphics and voice acting are all top notch. I recommend this game.
This game offered a truly entertaining story, with a pleasantly surprising tease/cliffhanger at the end. Telltale's usual glitches (loading times mid-cutscene, character clipping, etc.) are still present in this game but they won't stop you from enjoying it. I really hope there will be a season 2, as these are some of the most endearing characters I've encountered in a video game recently. I would also like to note the standout soundtrack, which is available for sale separately. It suited the varying moods and story accent points perfectly. I found myself pausing to listen even to the menu music the first time I played episode 1 (available for free in the Xbox game store). All in all, I definitely recommend stepping into this interactive detective novel.
This is the best Telltale game I have played so far. The story is awesome and the voice acting is good. I like the simplicity of the button controls mixed with easier spotting of areas to investigate and go. I have had some troubles with games like the Walking Dead where I reached points that just didn't make much sense with the next steps. Either way, there's humor, drama, and mystery and it's all blended into an excellent mix.
I know this is based on a comic, but I have no history with the comic. I am not sure if it stayed loyal or not, but the atmosphere and characters were great.
