The idea of this game is to make you feel like "the batman" but really it's just a pretty neat movement system and a really lame fighting game. All the "cool moves" seem to be scripted into the environment, so there's no feeling of organic awesomeness in it. I really don't understand how this has been so critically revered. The stealth component is crap — many of the set pieces pretty much require you to simply beat everyone to death one-by-one, and it's easy to be overwhelmed by a half-dozen thugs early in the game, while "training missions" embedded in the sandbox world are often nigh impossible and leave me feeling like a klutz (for being unable to complete them) or an idiot (for buying the game).
I really tried to give this game a chance, but I just couldn't get into it. The storyline has good premise, but the acting leaves a disappointing aftertaste. As for gameplay, its easy to get through the game by "button mashing." Strategy is not really necessary. Graphics are appealing, if not a little cartoony. Overall, many people liked it so it must have redeeming qualities. Just wasn't my cup of tea.
Disappointed in this game. My son and I get bored after 10 minutes. Compared to excellent strategy games like Empire Total War, or even action games like Uncharted, James Bond..., this game takes place in a depressingly run down Arkham City, nothing pretty, or inspiring, just lots of repeated kicks, punches, etc. Sad to see such graphic potential wasted on brainless action.
I expected more than what I got from this. It all just went too fast. Well, some of it did. The main story did not take long at all. Not a plus for me. The Riddler trophies are still on-going, and too monotonous to me. Another not-a-plus. And Harley Quinn's Revenge ... two days of less than nominal game play and it was done. I did like the array of characters. The thugs being the exception. Cookie cutter. Flying around the city is ok, but gets boring pretty quick. The female characters are pretty much material for a strip joint's main attraction or headliner. Their physical features and nuances are exaggerated, but to say they're sexy would be an understatement. Which adds to it being very faux. There is no place on Earth where every woman bears a model's physique that can fill D cups. Btw, if you slow Catwoman's walk down slow enough, she's got an accentuated stripper's walk. All in all, I wish I had waited till it went on sale, whenever that would have been or will be. I'm done playing it and don't really want to go back through it again. Maybe later ... but I wouldn't count on it. To give some idea of where my tastes lie, I hate Battlefield 3 and most games like it. A joystick to control a gun is just way too unnatural. I like the open world games, but not the sword and sorcery types. I rent or borrow mostly before I'll buy. Arkham City being the only exception. And it's easy to tell how that has went.
