A really great game and it fits in great with the resistance storyline. The only downside is the lack of multiplayer activity. The codes for the online pass mostly seem to be expired already so if you do want to gain a platinum from the game and the code doesn't work don't buy a pass for the one multiplayer trophy.
This was a really fun game to play, and it was a pretty easy game to earn the Platinum trophy as well. The game looks are plays nicely on the PS Vita. The story is pretty short though, but it's fairly interesting. There are several difficulty levels to play this game on, so if it seems too easy--you can easily turn up the challenge. Enemy A.I. is pretty predictable, and you can deal with enemies fairly well when you have cover.
The online community for this game is absolutely positively DEAD. If you're expecting to play any online content whatsoever, forget about it. I've literally waited for hours in a lobby hoping players would join me, and it never happened. There's no interest in this game by players it seems, so be warned--especially if you're going for the online trophies; You'll need a friend to help boost you.
Overall this is a good game, and I'm glad that I played it. However, there's just no replayability in this title after you finish it. It took me about 6 hours to complete the single player campaign, and I spend about another 12 more hours on/off trying to find a person to play with online--which is futile at this point. I recommend getting this game used, or at a discount if you can find it. It's still fun to play, and if you're a trophy hunter it's worth doing.
This game is a fun, linear first person shooter. The story is ok, but it doesn't add much to the Resistance lore. It basically just shows the Chimera invasion of the United States. There is a little conspiracy plot which is interesting. My biggest problem with the plot is that the main character is just a normal human, yet fights as well as Nathan Hale. Resistance 3 also did this. Graphics: 4/5. Good looking game, but the resolution does produce shimmering effects. Gameplay: 4/5. The game is easy yet fun. There is a variety of weapons to use. Audio: 2/5. Soundtrack is ok, but the sound effects are pretty dull.
The multiplayer is still up, but is totally dead. You will have to boost the one MP trophy with someone else. The MP was pretty lame. The guns and maps are ok, but the time-to-kill is WAY too short. This makes the secondary function of weapons almost pointless, and the game feel too much like Call of Duty.
It's overall a good game. there are some flaws and i wouldn't pay full price for it, but at the cheap price it goes for now, it's definitely worth it. Single player is good overall, varied stages, cool guns, played it from beginning to end without switching out to another game. Can't say for the multiplayer as I havent tried it and probably wont. It's probably empty anyway.
there are a lot of rough edges graphically. It runs at a low resolution, so there are jaggies everywhere, the shadows are pretty erratic half the time, lots of muddy textures and low polygon details. but graphics don't make or break a game. It's a fun game and the only thing i really hate is that I waited this long to play it because I took all the overly harsh reviews seriously.
First of all, let me specify that I am a gamer with only free time here and there for playing games. I work and take care of personal business before anything else . In return, that gives me limited time for gaming. Now, for my review. I snagged a copy of this game for pretty cheap. I had already played the campaign through renting from Gamefly. But, I wanted to play the online portion as well. The campaign is really short. I was able to blow through it in like 4-5 days when I rented it. Story is pretty generic and not very fulfilling. But, I have also played worse games. Unlocking trophies is terribly easy and Platinum is practically given away for this game. The online multi player is also extremely short and not very fulfilling. I have played for almost a month and I am already a level 33 and level 40 is the cap. By the time I hit level 40, I will have also unlocked all weapons and upgrades using experience points. One month to play online is pretty short for me. After I hit level 40, it will be a matter of playing for fun. Also, there are only 5-6 maps to play and 3 modes with encompass Team Deathmatch, Free For All and a Survival mode. If you are the humans, the goal is to not get killed. If you are the Chimera, the goal is to kill all the humans. Maps are very generic and were not thought out very well.
Overall, I like the Resistance series. I enjoyed this game for the short amount of time it lasted. But, it has no long term impact. If you are looking for a killer online multi player for the Vita, stick with Killzone Mercenary. Resistance Burning Skies is a great game to kill some time, get through completely and move on.
Resistance has always been one if my favorite "new" series I wasn't a FPS fan until I played Fall of Man on PS3 but anyway, this game picks up the mantle in a okay sort of way. The gameplay is typical resistance shooting chimera and what not but with added with touch control that honestly doesn't help or hurt the gameplay it's just kinda there. The over all gameplay does get kind of dull also it's pretty short 5/6 levels worth and the story itself is pretty bland (okay really bland) the online portion is your typical deathmatch or Team Deathmatch and some new type of game mode that I wasn't able to try because the servers are close to dead took me like 20 min to find a game I could join. But I still wouldn't say this is a bad game but I wouldn't say it's a great game either. For 10 bucks though I'm happy!
Resistance is a very fun, albeit very short FPS. My biggest complaint is the fact that after receiving my item I had to wait 3 days for Sony to issue me a new online pass as the one that came in the box was expired. There is no expiration date listed anywhere on the box or pass if just did not work.
Speaking of multiplayer, the only reason to play it is to get the one multiplayer trophy for the platinum trophy to unlock. It took me hours to get someone in a lobby to play with, but I finally got it.
Game = good Multiplayer = dead Online pass = expired.
This game was rated low and I can see why , but also I ignored the ratings their more suggestion than a deal breaker for me . I gave the game a try and it was actually fun , short but fun . Graphics are ok could be better story is bland but the game play is fun and having different weapons that are all unique help . So this is not like the best game ever or anything like that , but I had fun playing . Also if your into trophies this was an easy Platinum , not very hard to obtain .
Resistance Burning Skies wasn't a bad game but a good game. Story was good even though the game has only mission 6 to7 mission. I don't attack games for its graphics if the gameplay is good which it is, coming from Killzone mercenary to this you could clearly see the difference but luckily it has new game plus and gun gameplay is awesome I just wish the game was 2 to 3 mission longer and the graphics was bump up. I think hardcore or mild fans of the Resistance franchise should give it a try.
