I have no idea who is leaving these great reviews but honestly the product is not good. I have been using these chargers for years, this brand is more expensive than most but they were always made in the USA so well worth it. Not anymore, the newest ones say made in China, and that alone is a huge problem. Tried this with several batteries and while it charges, very slowly it never enters float mode, so it's always charging - even when another charger will show it's full. After 24 hours and the battery overcharging already, we just disconnected it. Very poor product, clearly there is no longer any quality. Sorry you lost out on our business - all because of China.
Great product. It's small, well thought-out and does what it says on the box.
I travel a lot for work, so my car is parked at home for 2-3 weeks every month. I drive a BMW, and the electronics draw the battery down while it's parked. It will start after 2 weeks but not after 3 if no one runs the engine. So I picked up a battery tender junior and I've been very happy with it. It's small enough to tuck in the trunk, and the detachable leads are a great feature - I leave them attached to my car's jumping posts under the hood, so it takes all of a few seconds to connect or disconnect.
It's kept my battery in great shape. In fact I've gained a few tenths of a volt both with and without the engine running, which is pretty fantastic considering my battery is 4 years old. I run a couple aftermarket amps, an obd2 wifi dongle, and a radar detector, which I know is taxing on my car's electrical device, so this guy gives me some peace of mind. And it's a steal for the price... it's a half to a third the price of a decent trickle charger, and it's better for my battery which is going to save me money over time. Very happy with this purchase.
Unfortunately I cant give this product more than 1 star. Reason being is that I have a vehicle that I park for 6 months out of the year so I thought it would be a good idea to get one . I should mention that I bought this product because the battery I had just purchased 2 weeks previous was a brand new interstate battery . So I hook up the leads and you should get a solid green indicator. problem is it wouldn't stop flashing green. So just to make sure it wasn't my brand new battery I hooked it up to my other car and same result so sadly this product does not measure up
I have several classic cars which sit over winter and often don't get used as much as they should so was replacing batteries all the time (even when disconnected they would drain down and then need boosting to start the car and charge which is very hard on them). Years ago I bought a couple of these for my cars, and they have worked excellent for 15+ years. Two weeks ago one of them failed so I ordered a new one and it works as advertised so far. The indicator light is now brighter, and with much "cleaner" colors. You can tell instantly what is going on. It is also much lighter and a bit smaller so probably all solid state unlike the old ones which had an old school transformer built in. Less weight hanging off the plug is good. Also the case has molded in grip pads so easier to plug and unplug. Some nice updates to an already great product, if the new ones last as long as the old ones I'll be very happy. Worth every penny.
seems to charge and show results on the unit by red or green light, flashing green means close to full charge, red is needs to be charged. solid green means fully charged. connector that goes on to the battery works very well. connections on the side of the unit that plus into the unit when it is charging is very thin and breaks off very easy. this part must be handled light care also I bought these units at $29 dollars . now they are $40. many chargers out there do the same thing at a much cheaper price.
The only thing that PISSES ME OFF about this battery tender is that I never had one years ago. Since I purchased this unit, I have saved thousands of dollars. I'm pretty sure batteries are my kryptonite. I never get more than a year out of a battery, if it goes dead i cant revive it no matter how hard I try. If the battery goes dead even for a few weeks I'm replacing the darn thing. After 2 battery replacements in my quad I purchased this battery tender. I use the quad mostly to shovel snow, so using the winch over and over then putting the quad away, made for a deadly combination. I use at least half the battery power on a good shovel day and now when I park the quad, I hook up the cables and in a couple hours she's good as new. I hook it up to everything just to top it up and I haven't had a battery go dead since!! I even had 2 deep cycle 6v batteries tied together from my RV and unplugged the RV for a month and the batteries were dead. I could see a bubble by the post which usually means it's done, but I hooked this up to the 2 batteries and charged for 10 days and it finally said it was good, unplugged it and it went dead the next day. I kept hooking it up unhooking and repeating over and over and I managed to save my batteries, they have both held charge for over a week now with no drain. I will never be without a battery tender again, so long as I own a battery that needs charging!!!
I'm on my 4th car battery in as many years bc something with my car drains it if I don't drive for more than 2 days. We've done all the testing and I'm just sick of it already so I got this. It installs to the battery and then plugs in to an outlet so the battery is kept charged all the time. Yes it's a band-aid solution but since I started using this I haven't had a dead car once. It is really easy to use and barely an inconvenience at all. I wish I knew about this before I spent hundreds of dollars on battery blankets, Jump services from tow trucks, and replacing battery after battery.
