The Day One Edition doesn’t have Voice Acting. WTH Square Enix?! Who sells Voice Acting as DLC?! Other than that, a great FF game thats a return to form and also unique in its own right. Reminded me of the Nintendo Pokémon games.
If you're looking for the ride of your life, don't put your hopes on this game. I mean is a nice try to make a super kid friendly game but it lacks a compelling story and personality in the main characters. Personally I consider myself to have low standards regarding games but I just don't luke this one.
Excellent game, OST, voices and history, but in vita, exist drop of fps o the game shutdown and the vita freeze sometimes with this game, i have Vita 2001 and Ps Vita and both have the same problem, I recommend the ps4 version.
Fun game..it's like a pokemon version of final fantasy. The load times however are horrendously slow, as is the battle sequences. I like that there is a speed up battle option, but i got really tired of holding down the right shoulder button
Games got some issues. It's the same game as the PS4 version. They didn't have to go cutting any features or anything to get it on the Vita, but what did get cut was lighting and framerate. The game runs in under 30fps in a lot of places with weird stopping and hhiccupng every where. It smooths out during battles but there's also a really jarring pause at the start of every battle. And basically all the dynamic lighting is gone, and like last night i noticed on the PS4 Ifrits armor has engraving on PS4 but not the vita. Also strange is the game I guess comes with no dialogue audio? I got the day one edition so I have the Japanese voice pack but there's also an English voice pack in the store, and I've seen people complaining there's no voices. That's where the voices are my dudes. I don't have a reason why yet but that's where they are. Those things aside, it's the same game and it's still a fantastic game, just far more janky on vita. And I know support the vita, but honestly if you can get the ps4 version do it, because you'll have a better experience.
Graphical downgrade over the PS4 version, expected I suppose but 15fps in some scenes? Come on Square-Enix...
Graphical glitches you would expect to see in an Alpha of the game... looking at you gliding across the floor with no animation present (hooray for stick figures!), and when switching scenes the picture will simply black out for a split second and then return with the characters not posed in their correct positions which causes them to snap into their intended animations (this is especially annoying when the scene is quickly switching constantly, epileptics beware).
No voice English over for the PS Vita version and the Japanese voice pack is nearly a gigabyte in size if you do want the voice over.
Probably worst of all... the game is not compatible with the PS TV despite both it and the Vita having the "exact" same Firmware. With a game that has no touch controls whatsoever, you would expect this to be a non-issue for portability between the systems. It doesn't even need to be redesigned! Honestly though, this is more of a Sony problem than a Square-Enix problem as Sony has to "whitelist" all Vita games that wish to use the PS TV. That doesn't make it any less relevant to a review though as there was no press release to indicate that it would NOT work with the PS TV, and I specifically looked for that one point months in advance of buying the game (trust me, I could find absolutely no information regarding this...).
All in all, at the time of release, World of Final Fantasy for the PlayStation Vita(only) is a broken experience that is not worth the money in my opinion. If you must play this game then I would consider the PS4 version if you have that console available to you.
Increased my rating by a star to 3 stars because the PlayStation Store finally has the English voice over as an add-on download.
The game still does not work for the PlayStation TV though which I still consider a huge oversight by Square-Enix.
I bought the PS4 version (Download version off of PSN) about 8 hours after struggling to like the Vita cartridge version. It is a vastly different experience both graphically and has better ease of use (My Vita's battery drains from full to empty after 2 hours of playing...).
Over all, I would recommend potential buyers still get the PS4 version.
I received it today. However, the voice over is mute. The game just shows the text subtitles. I try to reinstall it to no effect. Hopefully, this is a bug with a patch coming along and not a defective game card.
