I recently bought this game from Amazon. I heard some good reviews, some bad. Overall it had a 4 star rating and i only buy games that have at least 4 stars. So this made my list. I opened it up as soon as i got it. (arrived right on time, Vita finished charging) popped it in and i was so amused i couldnt put my Vita down. This is my first Resistance game. But not my first shooter. So i beat the firsts two "missions" rather quickly. I just figured "meh, maybe its just because this is the beginning.."
The next morning i check out the trophies and it only shows six missions. Again i figure "meh, maybe the missions get longer and more intense.." Nope..a couple hours later(literally 2 hours) the game was complete. I had 90% of the trophies. (gots to be the easiest set of trophies ive ever earned) in total i might have spent 3 maybe 3 and a half hours(kept dying on one part) on this game. And i felt cheated.
I figured, "meh, maybe multiplayer is worth a shot." So next i tried Multiplayer..oh boy.. I had to update this thing and install it. Then i try to go to multiplayer again and it asked me to purchase the online pass for "only" 9.99.... Really? $10 bucks just to play multiplayer. All the other games i have include multiplayer for free. Theres nothing left to do. No replay value. Unless i just happen to want to see a "stink" blow to bits when i shoot his "smokestacks". The final boss battle is pretty crappy. It looks like a "huge" ripoff of Nemesis from RE. For Vita it looked awesome. But ive never beat a boss so easily.
All in all i had a okay experience. I wouldnt recommend it at this price. Then they wanna charge you more for multiplayer which only has 3.5 stars in the Playstation store and bad reviews. I tried so hard to make this one of my 3 favorite Vita games that gets to ride along on my Nerf armors back. But, it just kept disappointing me so its confined to my game case. I'll try unit 13 next. And anticipate the arrival of Killzone on Vita. (at least i can say the aiming and amount of guns, bosses, and enemies on Resistance is better than Uncharted..but not a better game.)
The only real problem about this game is the multiplayer function. Now, it may be just my internet (or ps vita itself), but the game takes FOREVER to actually begin. Whenever I find enough players to begin a game, I'll either have to wait for around 2 mins until the game actually starts, for the voting session to begin, or I'll just loose connection. Finding at least 6 players for large games is sometimes hard to get, but that isn't a major problem (especially if you have friends in a private party). Also, when a game finishes there is a sudden freeze. Not like system freeze; the game just pauses where you last were, but it is easily fixed when you push the ps vita home button (that button on the bottom left of the front) and re-enter the game. Considering the fact that there is a $10 online pass just to use online features, I expect awesome multiplayer features or at least a faster way to find and start a game. Overall, this game was great! I recommend you do buy it. Lets just hope there is an update to these problems.
story: its... bad. the one thing that the franchise has become known for over the years is just terrible. there is no attachment. you go from an ax to a bullseye with no explanation. suddenly these aliens show up you see them and manage to put an axe into ones skull than take his rifle. yes, WE know what a dropship is but how do people in the 1950's who have never seen anything like this know? well, they instantly know the names of everything. we as fans know what an auger is and what they are capable of. the characters shouldnt have a clue
Visual: ehhh... its not ps3 but its better than ps2 and psp. i was expecting... more. on the other hand its not bad at all.
music/sound: what little there is is pretty good. my only gripe is that there isnt more
controls: some of the controls feel a bit tacked on and require some getting used to. at times it seems as if they put the touch controls in there just because they can which is never a good thing
overall: for the very first fps its pretty good. in fact i gave an extra star because of what it is. the first of its kind. however i had much higher expectations and i expect every other fps to come out to learn a lesson from burning skies. is it worth the purchase? used absolutely. new? not so much
It is an acceptable game is not better than the PS3, the graphics may not take advantage of the console, sony gave this game a lot hippe is not much, is entertaining but get bored, if you expect the graphs of the PS3 will be better not to buy, another detail is when you kill the bad guys they do not stay on the ground if not disappearing.
Someday I will leave a game you remove all the potential to PSVITA? besides Uncharted?. I hope so.
I know what u r thinking rigth now your problely thiking this wow the first portable fps game for vita but here is the problem with this game when you play campain you die quickly when you play online it takes a while to kill an enemy whwn you kill them it takes about 3 sec to react
Look at Sony (are they are going under), NOW look at the Vita, The proof is in the pudding... THEY COULD CARE LESS ABOUT THE VITA, and are only after salvaging what little money they can squeeze out of the commitment for the system and Developers that were/are already in motion... Mod Nation Racers was never given Online Multi-player. Unit 13 was never given anything but a self sustaining Co-Op mode (then the company was shut down right after release by Sony) "Thanks for the New Game, your ALL fired".... The Machine is Slow to sign into PSN, no friends Voice Chat, ETC, Etc, etc... There are JUST TOO many issues that are easily fixed for this little power house, but Sony has neither the will nor way to fix them. Look at the PS3, a FAR SUPERIOR system when compared to the 360, YET IT STRUGGLES ON EVERY FRONT !!! The PS3 online LOOSES to the 360, AND IT'S FREE??? For a company that has been in the game this long, AND used to be the top dog (PS2), you can't tell me there are "Technical Difficulties" with Multi-Player for Resistance Burning Skies where some people are fine while others can't play AT ALL (Always times out).... Sony has given up, so have I, and so should you...
