LAIR was a game that I had more-or-less decided not to get, based off all the bad I'd heard about the game, along with the good things I'd heard as well. But it was really cheap, 15 dollars here on Amazon, and I needed something else to get the 25 minimum for free shippping, and I'm glad for that. For 20 or less, this is a great PS3 game. It's very playable with the analog stick patch that was released a long time ago (I have no idea how the original Sixaxis only controls work). The premise is GREAT, you're a dragon-rider, so you get to fly around and shoot fireballs at your enemies, swoop down on ground forces and so on. You can also stomp around on the ground and breath fire on troops, swipe at them, etc. And one of the coolest parts of the game is when you get into an air-duel with another dragon-rider. You use a simple system with the buttons to attack and defend while you have this close-up one-on-one battle. Like I said, great concepts in the game, and they're all done fairly well. Interesting enough story, and a pretty decent looking game for how old it is in the PS3's lineup of titles. I couldn't help but think of ways the game could be even bigger and better, but I like what the game is, and as I said, if you're on the fence with this title, and can get it for 20 dollars or less, I recommend you take the plunge and get it.
I love this game mostly cause I can have my own dragon and well they fly great but sometimes if your like me you get so into it that when your chasing other Dragons you get motion sick (that part is not fun.) Overall game is great but may not be to popular since Skyrim has come out.
even though the game got bad reviews, this game has been patched and now works great. it kinda of reminds of the game Ryse out on xbone. OFC the graphics are not as good as RYSE, but possibly warrants one play through.
Other reviews say that the graphics are very good but I do not agree... the colors used for landscapes scream at you that this is a game for a new console... Where have you seen a mountain with bright green and hard brown?
The controls are very difficult at the beginning, but you'll get used to them after the bridge mission. The history is not bad but won't win any prize if it's written down on a book.
Any way, I gave this game 4 stars because it's really fun but only after you master the controls. Burning, slaughtering and eating troops with your dragon is the best feature of this game.
If you are reading this, you are probably wondering why so many users say this game is good while reviewers say it's bad.
Simple, it's a creative game made for users, not for reviewers!
Now, the game is a bit harsh when it comes to the learning curve, you do need to master the controls to be able to finish it, and yes, the dang back flip is a pain to accomplish, but other than that the game is VERY good, it has stunning graphics, which show off what the PS3 can do, and the controls are very precise when it comes to turning, diving or rising, you intuitively know how much to tilt the controller to go where you want to go. Now I've seen other reviewers say, controls are not responsive because the dragon takes a bit to turn, well, I have to differ, if you look closely, the dragon's head faces where he is going to turn, before actually turning, and that is immediate, so there is no real unresponsiveness, just think of turning a tank, you know where you want to turn it to, it just takes a while because it's HEAVY.
All in all, I was not disapointed with the game, actually I was surprised how good it was after such harsh reviews. If you like dragons and want to ride one, and don't mind moving your arms in doing so, then go for it!
I love games that are set in a mythical time set and mode and this game definitely kept my interest and the way the gameplay was set up, only added to the challenge and mad it more worth while playing for me. I think that anyone that has a slight fascination with dragons or anything of that nature would like to play this game and at least take a peek into it.
Wat i love de most about it, as de title says is de sixaxis motion.. De only times u have to press buttons is shootin n some time hitin All de moves of de dragon is sixaxis motion n is awesome, brilliant.. I defenitly recomend it to every one da wants feel wat PS3 can do!!!
