If you're thinking of getting this game you probably have a Wii and have played the original to death.
Wii Sports Resort is a great follow-on, using the included motionplus controller to fine tune the movements of the Wiimote to make the actions on the screen feel more realistic. Most reviewers agree that the best game is table tennis. You can really feel the bat and work at the spin, making it more than just hit and hope. This is definitely a "just one more" game. Other favourites are archery, which is so frustrating when he fire in to the trees on the longer distances and also swordplay (which sort of allows you to be a Jedi, especially with the showdown minigame.
Overall we have really enjoyed Wii Sports Resort, and it has definitely breathed more life in to our Wii after a lack of any killer games for a while.
The real drawback is the price. Two player is always going to beat the computer so you'll need an additional Motionplus controller and also another nunchuck if you haven't already got a spare. It's probably worth it for the hours of fun you'll get (especially when your relatives come round) but it is still a lot of cash to splash.
I found this to be a great game. Much better than Wii Sports. If you liked Wii Sports you will love this. The Motion Plus adds a new element to Bowling and Golf, though it would have been nice to see tennis included. It does have table tennis, but I'd say that it isn't as good.
Great as a multi player game (though you will need to purchase an extra WiI Motion Plus). Swordplay is particularly good
One of the best features is the huge amount of unlockable elements which ensures this game has longevity. As does the large number of games and different modes.
One minor problem is that the controller occasionally loses calibration during a game, though this only seems to be in the games that require lots of fast, frantic movements. It's easy enough to calibrate again. Press + and place the controller down for a second or two and then resume the game.
Overall, an excellent game and I would recommend it. Just shy of getting 5 stars.
A good fun package of games, which we are all exploring. The motion plus really does make the controller more sensitve and precise. However be warned that the motion plus is needed for all controllers. While majority of the games can be played by sharing a controller, if you are playing against each other you will need as many motion plus as you have players.
Insert the disc and play right away, the onscreen instructions take you straight into the game, no need to read the instruction mannual. Graphics are colourful and detailed. While some games have no music this makes it more enjoyable as have the sound of boats, waves etc (ie. wake boarding)
We enjoy swordplay, which can be very energegtic and a real stress buster, makes your arms ache. Cycling also gets your arms moving.
Well worth the buying.
If you have the wii fit game, if like me you have problems with the wii fit game freezing up and not responding on screen at same time as the wii controller, can tell you now that I have not had any problems at all with Sports Resort.
As an oldie, I don't have much experience of the gaming world, but this is quite fun for the uninitiated. One word of warning, though! I assumed that the Wii Motion Plus accessory supplied as part of the package was a Motion Plus controller. It isn't. It's a plug-in bit in a silicone sleeve to which you have to add your own remote. I already have a Motion Plus remote, so I thought this would enable two people to play at once. Instead I had to search out a Wii remote (and it's not that easy to come by a genuine Wii remote these days). I know I should have read the product description more carefully, but let that be a warning to other prospective buyers.)
This game has lived up to all expectations and then some. The games are varied enought to keep you coming back and the graphic style is simple as per the first game but seems to work really well. The motion plus is spot on and really improves the sensitivity and accuracy of the wii remote. A couple of small niggles are that having to put the wii remote face down to calibrate every so often is a bit annoying and some of the sub games are a bit easy. Having said that this game really shines in multiplayer mode and has become a firm favourite in our house. A quick word of warning though, move any furniture and stand well back from the TV, as these nearly got destroyed when we first played it!!
I bought this game for my son-in-law's birthday as he purchased his wii game console before this item was available. It also included a motionplus accessory which greatly enhances the gaming experience. There are a dozen games of all descriptions including Swordplay, Wakeboarding, Frisbee, Archery, Basketball,Table Tennis, Golf, Bowling, Power Cruising, Canoing, Cycling and Air Sports. He enjoys all the games and finds some of them challenging as well as a fun way to have extra exercise. My 5year old grandson also loves these games and manages to play them well enough to have lots of fun. I would thoroughly recommend for very good value too.
This is a great bit of fun and is very addictive I bought a wii for when my grand kids come over to keep them entertained and the wii resort was bundled with it but I found that they enjoyed it that much I started playing it and now I'm hooked especially the "island fly over". Being retired I have a lot of time on my hands in the winter months when its hard to get motivated to get out and about but this brilliant bit of kit that keeps me occupied for ages I would recommend this to anyone no matter what age.
My daughter has a Wii and she'd asked for this game for her birthday.(she'd had it early after seeing the parcel arrive from Amazon!) From the time she basically 'set' the game up, she was hooked. She then encouraged me to have a go at a couple of the games... Put it this way, my favourite, is the dog frisbee and I love the basketball, albeit a terrible shot..! Its a fun few hours and a game you can keep coming back to. Next purchase will be a spare wii motionplus controller, so we can compete against each other..
A great game that lives up to expectations, there is a variety of different games to play which are enjoyable and intuitive to grasp. The motion plus improves the sensitivity and accuracy of the wii remote and the games are well suited to it, though if you want to play some of the multiplayer games you'll need to buy additional motion plus modules which are sold seperately. This game is definately a must for the wii.
