No lo he jugado para validar si es verdad que tiene tantos problemas de rendimiento, pero la presentación si que es muy bonita y de calidad, además por el precio al que lo encontré ($299 MXN) me pareció una ganga.
This game is glitchy to the point of being unplayable. While the mechanics are sweet and the plot is intriguing, the textures of the characters stop rendering halfway through, and the game freezes with startling frequency. I’m a huge fan of the Blacksad comics series, but unless the developers take a long hard look at what they’ve done here, I cannot recommend anyone wastes $60 on this game.
Updating to version 1.0.2 on Switch makes the game much more playable. It's still a far cry from anything I'd consider smooth or otherwise fluid, but it's playable enough (and barely at that). I was able to get about 10 hours into the game, thoroughly enjoying the storyline, until something frustrating happened. My game crashed on me and now I cannot load my save file. My save file is stuck in an endless loading purgatory. I'm talking about letting the thing sit and load for 30+ minutes, all to no avail. It's disappointing that a game that I really want to like has been utterly tarnished by performance issues. Now I have no way to access where I left off unless yet another update is patched in, and that's if I'm lucky. I've downgraded my score from three stars to two. The only thing keeping me from leaving one star is the fact that the underlying game is actually good; I just want to be able to access my save file and play it.
I've never heard of Blacksad until I saw this game pop up on Amazon. It piqued my curiosity, so I decided to look up what Blacksad was all about. From what I gather, it's a comic series that's fairly popular in Europe. I decided to read the comics and I really liked them. I knew I had to get this game.
The packaging of this game is quite amazing. The lenticular artwork is awesome and the included art prints are much nicer than I would have expected. The packaging genuinely made me excited to boot up the game. I love the film noir atmosphere/aesthetic the game goes for; it's very faithful to the comic. Unfortunately, that's where my praise ends.
The game runs abysmally on Switch. I don't know how it runs on other consoles but on Switch, it's nearly unplayable. I'm usually not a framerate snob, but during some scenes, I felt I could actually count the individual frames. The game crashed on me three times in the roughly two hours I've put into it. This is insane, as I've only had a game crash on me one other time on the Switch ever. I really hope that a patch is rolled out sooner than later that resolves the horribly long loading times, low framerates, and semi-frequent crashes.
I really, really want to play this game, but the way it runs now on Switch is just inexcusable. I really liked the story of the two hours I've played so far. If this game gets patched into a playable state, I'll be sure to update this review to reflect that.
I'm a huge fan of the Blacksad graphic novels but this is game does not do the property justice. They need to seriously fix this game. It runs terribly and this is after 2 patches already released. Frame Rate is terrible and load times are unusual long for that shouldnt take all that much to run. When games like Breath of the wild, Astral Chain, and Luigi's Mansion look and run as well as they do then a this game should have no issue. The developer really needs to find a way to get this port working since its ruining a pretty solid game other wise
Blacksad is a great twist on a 1950's, 60's, story, that takes place in a world of murder, corruption, gambling and much more. The graphics are amazing, as the game looks like its a hand drawn cartoon, that brings this city and characters to life.
However, this games is not for kids, as there is racism, sex, murder, and more.
My only problem is there are some game playing issues, where the icons will not appear or the game will not let you do anything and freeze. The good thing, is there is an autosave feature, and you can just reload the game.
The other issue for me is that the load times from section to section are looooonnnnggggg! I'm not sure why this is the case, as this could have been easily hidden with load screens that recap the story so far, but instead you get a black loading screen. And it takes about 60 seconds or a little longer to resume play.
That being said, this game is awesome, if you like story driven games, that is based on dialogue trees, and quick time events, this game will be for you. Be aware that there is a hefty update when you put the game in the switch for the first time. Still a little buggy, but a great story.
The story is interesting and enjoyable, but THE GLITCHES have made this game unplayable. I’m hopeful they patch it so I can finish one of my favorite graphic novel worlds. I encourage you to pick those up before playing.
