Unlucky in LoveAvaliado no Reino Unido em 29 de junho de 2018
Stardust was sprinkled over Claire Bloom's cradle on the day she was born! But an evil fairy was obviously lurking as well, bringing her life some heartbreaking twists and turns. Born into a rather ordinary London Jewish family, Claire's childhood was unsettled, due to relocation to the USA during WWII and also financial instability thanks to her feckless and unreliable father. In spite of this, Claire found success and stardom on both stage and screen at a very young age - and was mixing with the likes of Charlie Chaplin, Richard Burton and Lawrence Olivier by her early 20s. The lucky breaks that ushered in her phenomenal acting career, abandoned her in matters of love. A hopeless romantic in search of a grand passion, Claire endured three unhappy marriages and a passionate but doomed love affair with the married Richard Burton. This is an engaging, well-written autobiography telling the story of a remarkable actress, her career and her star-crossed love life. Written when she was 60ish and newly separated from her third husband, the novelist Philip Roth, I do hope she eventually found some satisfactory male companionship. For fans of Hollywood gossip, this is a satisfying read - and you'll keep turning the pages until the end!

A CLEAR AUTOBIOGRAPHYAvaliado no Reino Unido em 26 de maio de 2019
I READ it FOR insight into PHILIP ROTH'S life, there was info , but further than that it is the biography of a very beautiful woman who seemed to easily flow into the theatre and the beds of very top actors and the named writer.

A wasted opportuniyAvaliado no Reino Unido em 12 de novembro de 2018
We could have learnt a lot more about her acting career and could most certainly have done better to learn a lot less about her personal life. A most unenjoyable book. Far too much personal and private information.
