If you go in comparing to left 4 dead you will either be pleasantly surprised, or somewhat disappointed. Personally I was pleasantly surprised. Difficulty can be adjusted to keep game challenging as you level. The specials in this game will mess your day up the same as l4d. That is to say concurrent attack’s that can end your game immediately. Don’t be that guy that wanders...
i just recieved WWZ Monday 5/10 and played 5/11. There are references of the special infected zombies. I find it a bit challenging, but love the challenge of the game. There is no safe house or safe room, your always on the move..., standing still will almost always can get your character killed and zombified. Sorry you can't play zombie as far as I know.
Mostly from L4D and one from Dying Light the Following similarities..., Left 4 Dead SMOKER = WWZ's HAZMAT- they both release toxic gas, Dying Light the following SCREAMER (child)= WWZ's SCREAMER attached to a megaphone both alert and attract zombies, kill him before you get overwhelmed by the swarm of zekes. Left 4 Dead CHARGER= WWZ's BULL- both will target the closest victim, Left 4 Dead HUNTER= WWZ's LURKER- both will make a low growl and pounce a great distance, Left 4 Dead SPITTER= WWZ's INFECTOR- both have bile goo spit to do damage and turn their victim, Left 4 Dead BOOMER= WWZ's BOMBER- both get close to survivor and detonate.
The game had 3 difficulty levels EASY>HARD>INSANE, different parts of the world: NY, Jerusalem, Moscow, Tokyo (each has 3 missions). You are constantly killing Z's securing and saving survivors. For inexperienced and to get the mechanics of the game, I would recommend difficulty: easy and when you are comfortable enough and confident, you can work your way up. The hard and insane is best to play online with friends. You have two options to play: offline and online..., offline your playing with the AI, online you have to have Xbox pass, year subscription to have access online (I buy Xbox 3 month pass or a year pass at the store and redeem online). I'll update if there are any glitches.
No campaign, no story, just 4 stages (only 4) of left for dead. If you are offline DO NOT GET THIS. The computer assistance on the levels is abysmal. You basically can never win without people online helping you.
The game performs very well (from a technical perspective) I have noticed no bugs/glitches or connectivity issues. The graphics are fantastic (playing on xbox one x) In a market oversaturated battle royale and with many hundred hour-long open world games with complicated skill trees and player progression models, WWZ provides a much needed simplified, fun and streamlined experience. There are several maps, scenarios and characters to experiment with. An absolute overlooked gem for just $40!
An interesting genre of gaming that should get more titles would have to be games based on books. Be it comics like Fables, or novels like Metro, games based on books have a lot of potential. World War Z is yet another game trying to make a novel a gaming experience, and actually does a good job. The game is a 3rd person zombie survival shooter that features gameplay reminiscent of Left 4 Dead. However, unlike L4D, World War Z features hordes of zombies so large that Dead Rising’s developers would drool. The game features four base locations and one DLC location. Each scenario has a mini campaign with 4 unique characters, all of whom can be equipped with different load outs, perks, and classes to fit your play style. The weapon selection is vast with an abundance of upgrades (silencers, sights, socks, etc.). There is also a horde mode that revolves around wave survival. Sadly, despite its impressive features and amazing personalization, this game was clearly meant to be played with friends. Though you do have a single player option, the difficulty and capabilities of the horde make if feel like your teammates are dead weight that let you down more often than not. Instead of healing themselves and fighting the hordes with you, they tend to get hardly any kills and get downed often. I understand this game is intended to be played online or in co-op, but when the ability to play solo with AI is made available, it should be balanced. It’s still worth a buy and a play through, just know it’s gonna be an uphill battle if you don’t want to play with other people.
