So let me start off and say it's a really nice hip length jacket that seems well built. It uses a captive (non removeable) membrane liner for water proofing (which I haven't tested yet) and a removable thermal liner. Lot of pockets both inside and out and good adjustability in the arms and mid torso.
Maybe I missed it, but the shoulder and elbow armor is "only" CE 1 as opposed to the more impact resistant CE 2. The trade off is that the jacket is lighter and less restrictive. The thermal liner seems a bit thin and has a tendency to ride up a bit from the bottom hem. It seems Alpinestars reserves the better armor for $500+ jackets.
I normally wear an XL, went for the XXL on the Andes V3 jacket and it fits great. Unbeatable rain and cold protection! A little warm for summer riding, even with the insulated liner removed, but not unbearable. I've paired this with a size 4XL Andes V3 Drystar pants, and they're both excellent for 4-season riding here in Tennessee. I've been riding in this suit down to 25 degrees Fahrenheit and the cold never seeped in, even after a couple of hours. I've also been caught in a few storms and the Drystar membrane on both the Andes V3 pants and jacket kept me 100% dry. If you're looking for inclement weather protection, this suit will do the trick. Some points to note: there's no spine protector included, although there is a Velcro pocket inside to allow the addition of one, which is what I have done. Also, the rest of the armor in the arms and shoulders is built in, so don't buy if you're wanting to upgrade the armor as it won't be possible.
Normally wear a size large in my jackets. After reading reviews and being extra careful after I took my chest measurements, I ordered and XXL. It was definitely too big. So I ordered and XL. Just right. I wore the jacket today for a 3 hour ride in mid-50's and every part of me was cold EXCEPT for everything covered by this jacket. Very warm and comfortable on the bike. I'm looking to get the matching pants to wear when it is really cold.
I bought this as an all season jacket and it has exceeded my expectations. I ride out of San Diego and in temperatures of 40 -100+ degrees and this jacket works. It comes with armor in the shoulders and elbows but not the back so I also bought an Alpinestars back protector . If you are looking for a good All Season motorcycle jacket you found it.
Great piece of gear! Fit and function is very good. Only issue I have is with the collar being uncomfortable in the front. I feel like I’m getting choked sometimes and am constant adjusting it around my throat. Definitely designed for sitting upright all the time, so it gets uncomfortable if you are leaning forward at all. Works ok on a dual sport adventure bike.
Excelente producto y materiales, la talla justa a lo esperado. Muy buen diseño elegante. desearía que las protecciones de hombro pecho y codos fueran de un mayor nivel de protección y que incluya protección de espalda. la jacket tiene buen nivel de ventilación
