Forza Horizon 4, like the previous Horizon games, has about the best graphics (scenery and car realism) of any race games available. It also has excellent car handling with the XBox One controller pad (I haven't tried a wheel controller, pad is fine for my gameplay). The races can be customized (blueprinted), you can choose time of day, season, and weather. The only flaw that bothers me is occasional abrupt changes in a patch of shadow or light. Most often it's one or 2 trees, which you'll see suddenly flash from light green to black shadow; half to all of the tree. That I notice and get distracted, mildly annoyed by, a few times during each gameplay session. It can also happen on ground; an area abruptly flashes from light to dark shadow or vice versa. All the previous Forza games share that flaw. I hope that in Horizon 5 the studio designers could progress and get rid of those unrealistic abrupt switches of areas from light to black shadow, or black shadow to light. Then I'd have nothing about the graphics to criticize. It's not a substantial problem, I ignore it - the game in general, 99 percent of the time looks great, realistic, scenic.
Bought as a way to occupy the boyfriend. Game seems to have made him extremely happy as he spends all his current free time buying cars, building up cars, and auctioning cars. Its actually caused him to take a break for buying and building up cars in real life so its been a benefit to our bill money. However as much as I enjoy the free and quite time, the game has engulfed him. After a few weeks, it has made it quite lonely here. I wonder if I can still return the game?🤦♀️🤔
Anyway, ladies...if you want to get your car guy a game, this is it but be prepared to be invisible afterwards until your man loses interest. Mine is going on at least a month of continuous play and he's still going strong.
This is a great driving game, great ai, great graphics, great music, and the physics are very good. Amazing collection of cars. But... where are the race tracks?? For those, you have to get the motorsports version of the game. I want Laguna Seca. I want Road America and VIR. Where is Lime Rock?? None of those are here.
On the plus side, for 20 bux through the Xbox you can get the entire Ultimate add on pack with quite a bit of content. And Top Gear is there with challenges to do.
But yeah, though beautifully executed, this is a game about car culture and skills, not about a sports car racing sim.
Horizon 4 is an addictive car game. I it is more than just racing. There are tons of things to do. That all said, the game needs clearer instructions. Way too much is left unsaid or very poorly ... I would have said explained but the fact is in many instances there is no explanation at all.The player is left to fumble in the dark. The game is still very enjoyable if a bit frustrating.
If you like cars, and you like racing, then you'll probably love this game. The open environment in Great Britain is fun to explore, whether racing on the open roads or going off road crashing through fences and bounding over hills. There are plenty of things to do, whether it's races, collecting things, completing side stories, etc. There are lots of cars to choose from, but you can pay more if you want to unlock even more of them. There's other DLC you can buy too, such as expansion packs which unlock additional areas, and a VIP upgrade which doubles the credits you earn after each race while gifting you 2 Super Wheelspins every week. But even without paying for all the extras, this game still has a lot of fun to offer to fans of the racing genre as is.
This game sucks. Extremely hard even at rookie setting. I’m no hardcore gamer but this is ridiculous. Menus are confusing and too intricate. Hard to earn money to unlock the cars you want. It’s so hard to keep control of your car. It’s almost impossible to keep the tail end of your car from sliding out from under you and losing control.
I just got the game, so can't give a full review, but just a note to some - I put the disc in and nothing happened, repeatedly tried, still nothing (but it was spinning each time). I then did a full power off (unplugging Xbox from the wall and waiting 10 seconds), then rebooted (disc was still in) and........nothing (disc was spinning). I then one more time removed and re-insterted the disc and only then did it start up so I could install it. This is on my Xbox One S (slim).
I love the graphics. I love the car selection. The racing is fun and there is lots of variety. Dirt, street, circuit, sprints, and boss battle racing! Customize your cars and trucks and buggies. Lots of vinyls, paints, wheels, and bodykit options. Upgrade the car performance with motor swaps and all the parts. This game is everything I want! I'd highly recommend Forza Horizon 4!
This was a gift for my husband and he's really gotten his money's worth out of it. He's played it almost daily since ordering almost 2 months ago and is still loving it. The graphics are amazing, there's tons of stuff to do, and even the kids like to either play it or help Daddy design his cars. I'm not familiar with the other Forza games but this one is definitely great.
