Yes, it's different than the original trilogy. Once you accept that, this is actually a great game. Humor is one of the main draws, and it's done very well in this game. It's funny without going so far as to be goofy or juvenile, and many scenes in this game are the most entertaining in the Mass Effect series. As opposed to the best of the best in the galaxy, like in the original trilogy, this game's crew is filled with a lovable rogue's gallery of misfits. They're inexperienced. They fail at times. But they get up and keep trying, and I love them for it. And, as captain, you are allowed to chastise your team members when they screw up. They set up a lot of things that will come to play when or if we get a sequel (and I really hope we do). Gameplay-wise, there's lots to do—too much, in fact, and it's probably in your best interest to leave a lot of the more mundane tasks unfinished. But I was entertained through two playthroughs and will probably play at least once more.
Solid game. Story was original yet still blended well within the Mass Effect universe. The game does feel a little bit of Mass Effect 1 in the sense that the story line drags a bit and gets a bit stale with going back and forth between locations that you may have already visited multiple times along with mineral mining. Graphics are good but did not blow me away. I still prefer Mass Effect 2 due to the quick pace, characters, and story. This game has enough to be a one off or baseline for a new trilogy. I did not like the main character very much but he/she was well done. Character customization was a bit bland and squad mates appearance are not editable. The dialogue among the squad is enjoyable and humorous at times.
Despite the occasional glitches here and there, this game is fantastic! It won't match up to what Mass Effect 2 and 3 were, but taking it with an entirely new family unrelated to Shepard was a bold and smart move. I've played three different playthroughs so far, switching between both Scott and Sara, and not only am I impressed with the script and the voice acting, the romance routes are believable and make my cold dead heart actually feel warmth again!
I love this game! I don't understand why the reviews were so critical?!? It is very fun and the story is great. I would agree that there are too many side missions, and it is difficult to tell what is pointless side mission/critical to the story. But overall the game is very pleasing and the graphics are phenomenal.
This particular game suffered from a questionable launch and poor support at launch and early in its life. Yet I still Wish they had followed thru and kept making content for the Single player and Multiplayer alike. After some time many of the ugly Facial animations and glitches were resolved.I feel its a good game even tho I felt it never got the support it deserved.
Don't understand all the negative criticism online about this lovely parallel sequel. It was fun, engaging, and the perfect length (I realize this sounds like a review of something adult in nature). my only complaint is I'll be pissed if they don't do another trill-ogy.
Great game for the price, I had never played the mass effect series & it tells the old story with enough new that I could piece it together. Pretty fun 3rd person shooter, similar to Dragon Age: Inquisition as far as story telling/choices. Lots of single player replay options if you enjoy that, but also some 4 person co-op multiplayer that can benefit the single player.
I love the mass effect series and this seems to be a great new addition. I've fully explored the first two games and am looking forward to finishing this one. The game is very addictive and I never want to stop playing. I've put about 10 hours in so far and can't wait to see what the rest of the game has to offer. If you are a fan of the Mass Effect series, I would definitely recommend giving Andromeda a shot as well.
