I always wondered why Doctors would pull out the prescription pad so quickly. This book gives the reader an insight into the world of medicine as well as the disconnect between the treatment of health, (alternative products) and the treatment of disease, (doctors prescriptions and the big pharma companies). It does make one wonder when it seems that one prescription medication has side effects that need to be treated by a second or even a third prescription medication!
Although I have been aware of the shenanigans of the medical associations and pharmaceutical industry, I found the information in this book very alarming. The extent to which these organizations go about confusing the public and corrupting knowledge is laid out in great detail. Halfway through the book, I felt very sad at the betrayal of trust and the Hippocratic oath and had to put the book aside. I will take it up some other day. Given the credibility that Dr. Dean has developed in my mind with her recommendations that worked for me, I am quite certain that she is telling a true story here. For now, I do not believe the pharma advertisements and look for relief based on supplements. Many of them have worked and a few have not. In the case of the latter, I have had to turn to prescriptions from my doctor as a last resort.
