Sobre o Autor

Celia Anderson lives slap bang in the middle of the Midlands and dreams of owning a cottage by the sea, or at the very least on a canal or river. She makes do with living next door to a pond full of ducks but often manages to sneak more impressive watery places into her writing. Celia loves walking, reading, having large bubbly baths, eating and drinking wine. Over the years, she has found that all of these activities bar the first may be done simultaneously, although this can be messy. Previously a teacher and assistant head, she now writes full time and keeps her feet on the ground by running children's clubs that mainly involve drama and cake.
An enthusiastic member of the Romantic Novelists' Association, Celia currently organises the judging for the Romantic Novel of the Year Awards. She spends far too much time on social media and dreams of one day being strong-minded enough to leave the house without her phone.

Having read 59 Memory Lane I was eager to meet the characters again. Celia didn’t disappoint. I felt like I was saying hello to old friends. Of course there are some new characters that keep the story fresh and what interesting people Celia weaves into her stories. Grace, who gradually lets go and gets enfolded into the spirit of Pengelly. And James who is struggling with memory loss, which Celia treats in a very sympathetic way, just as she does the blossoming relationship between these two older characters. It was lovely to experience the more gentle and warm love of an older couple. You don’t have to have read 59 Memory Lane to enjoy this book, but you will learn more about May and Grace’s ‘gift’ if you do. I just hope that this is a trilogy and I can go back to Pengelly again.

A complete load of unbelievable drivel. The plot hinges on the ability of the main protagonist being able to access other peoples’ memories and to give them back to those who have lost them. What is more, the birth mother she is seeking steals memories in order to reverse the aging process. Enabling her to have given birth at the age of 57 and live to 110. Yeah. Right.....
Repetitive, tedious and written in a style reminiscent of a child. Just don’t waste your time.

What a joy to return to Pengelly in Cornwall!

I enjoyed the first book set in Pengelly (59 Memory Lane), and although I realised there was more to explore, I wasn't prepared for the treasures within the pages of The Cottage of Curiosities. Celia Anderson is a master at pulling the reader in and uses the lightest of touches to bring her characters to life. This is a story about finding where you belong, reconciling the past, love, and relationships. Add in some intrigue, secrets, a village by the sea and you have the ingredients for a heart-warming story. And speaking of ingredients - Celia has thoughtfully added some of the recipes she mentions, at the end of the book. So after reading, you can still keep a taste of Pengelly life. Wonderful!

This is just the tonic to take you away from these worrying times.

A while ago i began reading 59 Memory Lane but did,nt for some reason click to it. I wrote a review saying this. However i decided to give it another go recently and getting into the story i thoroughly enjoyed it and so, bought the second one in the set. So glad i did because they are lovel. I easily pictured the cobbled street where the story was set and could imagine the sight of the Cornish beach and sea which they looked out on. The characters were all so likeable and I am so pleasd that Tristram and Julia married. Will there be a follow to this book? I would love to think so as i am sure there is plenty of material to keep the series going. I shall watch out for hopefully another installment.

Missing my book clubs I was searching for something to hold my attention and had the good feel factor. I came across 59 Memory Lane and I was enchanted.The weird world we are inhabiting was left behind.The winter rains were shut out by a cosy shawl, a lamp and a dawn good story.
The plot flows, the characters are individuals who interact beautifully and the scenery abounds.
Before I had even finished the first book I bought book two. Sometimes a sequel disappoints - not this one! I don't have knicknacks but I do have a memory box and I have always made one for each member of my family. How lovely it would be to give back memories.
An excellent novel
