I myself prefer the older zombie maps, without all these flying-bats, 3-headed type demons running at me, but I must admit if I'm in the mood for something different I go for it, I just find it irritating that there's no 'original zombie mode' for when me and my friends wanna just chill out and open a few mystery boxes without 'special rounds' and dolphin dives, but hey, gaming evolution I suppose, we're in the evolution of gaming where gaming companies do not listen to reviews nor criticisms from even their best fans.
If you can put up with the "next-gen" ideas that Activision have mustered up, then this is the game for you.
If you cannot stand jetpacks, cringe emote/dances, stupid amounts of DLC and zombie maps that aren't fun to just jump into, this game isn't for you.
I don't really play it myself, even after years of playing Call of Duty, if I could go back in time and not buy it, I probably would.
The single player was a better experience than I was expecting, Positives being that I actually liked choosing my own layout for each mission and having the multiplayer customisation experience put into the campaign, also the story is much better than some of the previous COD entries. However the pacing was garbage, it took around 6-7 hours of explosions and stale missions before things actually got interesting, even then the story tried to overcomplicate itself (I had to google the ending to understand what happened fully). As soon as the sotry started going I became more and more motivated to finish the campaign. Difficulty has been well balanced, very few difficulty spikes although the realistic difficulty is a bit much. Veteran is bad enough, but getting killed in one shot gives you no chance at all of progressing in a fun and challenging manner. At the end of the day this was a strong campaign and a definite step in the right direction in terms of storyline.
Didn't do much to separate itself from other entries. Felt like I was playing Black ops 2 or Advanced warfare DLC than a separate game. Maps are uninspired, only 1 new game mode where you escort a robot to a certain destination which suffered big balancing problems. It was almost impossible to keep the robot from moving toward the destination when on the opposing team. Gun models looked far too similar to previous entries. Good effort with the class systems, but I felt like it wasn't really enough to separate it out from other games, except when the prophet class does the cheapest new move... travelling back 5-6 seconds before you shoot them to then take you out when you should have got the kill. So overall it was a mediocre online multiplayer that needs some more innovation to make it stand out.
I'm personally getting a bit sick of zombies, it has been overused in COD. But I think this mode was very entertaining and expanded well on the existing formula. With more monsters, more secrets to discover and cool map designs. A solid experience.
Average game with a strong single player and zombie element. 6/10 rating from me.
Please note: I did not get any DLC for this game so I have not included that in this review.
The game itself is sub standard as any call of duty game is as you know yourself. I did enjoy it though, mainly played online but the story line was fun and engaging.
Overall product was as it says it is.
