Pro: the combat system which consists of grid movement and a turn-based system that uses opportunity points to determine your party's overall actions. You can potentially have a single character take multiple actions in a turn. It's simplistic and yet there is deep strategy later in the game as your characters learn more skills which give them more options.
Pro: the character generation system. At first, you are limited with the default character which you can soon choose to replace with a custom character if you wish. While there are only four classes and seven races to choose from, each class has around 50 skills and most are available only at certain levels. Your party will initially consist of story characters, but you will be able to build your own party of custom characters later if you so choose.
Pro: the music and the voice acting is well done and helps create the ambiance of the Celtic atmosphere.
Pro: while the story is basic, there are a lot of nods to the original trilogy and there are several fun moments in the game. My personal favorite: the "sloth" races.
Con: the graphics are lackluster. They're not terrible, but I've seen better in the previous console generation.
Con: puzzles everywhere and I mean everywhere. You can't enter a new level without encountering a host of gear doors, moving blocks, and/or riddle altars. There is a feature that you can activate when creating your file that disables the story puzzles, but not the optional puzzles. One grouping of optional puzzles requires you to access InXile's website to use a code wheel.
Con: sprinting is a joke. Assuming you can get it to work (sometimes it doesn't), you will save about 1 second out of 10 as opposed to walking.
Con: too many glitches. While patches have been made, the game occasionally crashes. Even worse, once in a while you don't get experience points after a fight, forcing you to reload and try the fight again if you want the experience points.
Con: no option to flee from battle. This is especially frustrating early in the game when it's easy to blunder into an enemy that's too powerful for you.
Con: loading and reloading games and levels is an average, at least on a console, of 50 seconds. And you will be doing a lot of reloading.
Con: merchants don't replenish stock. I've had to restart the entire game once already because I ran out of healing potions and my party kept getting slaughtered.
Overall, there is a good game here, but you need to have an insane amount of patience to complete it. I can only assume InXile approved of the above designs I've complained about, otherwise they would have fixed them with a patch.
