I'm still coming back to this years later even though I have X-box ones now. The story mode is good for one player, non co-op gaming. Great graphics and sound for the year of release. Planes are way too easy to shoot on arcade mode but the other difficulty levels are a challenge. There are lots to choose from, obvious omissions - the P47-D Thunderbolt but I bought this for a quid as an add on. By far the best WW2 flight-shooter I've played.
Initial impressions are that this is awesome! Graphically it is impressive. Easy controls and I'm having fun defending Dover. I'm quite happy as it seems as good as other ww2 flight games. Really like the damage detail as you can see bullet holes in your spitfire after a battle. Tutorial was quite quick and not irritating like I'm some flight games.
-No options to change control layouts (a pain if, like me, you fly RC aircraft. Flying this game will erode your flying skills).
-Random cut-scenes in the middle of the action, which leave your plane flying unattended. You return from the cutscene to find that you have crashed in the game, and with the savepoint at the start of the cutscene, no way to recover your progress.
-Too many extras and power-ups. They just clutter the screen and detract from what should be an absorbing dogfighting adventure.
At first I found it a bit tricky to control the plane with my Saitek Aviator Joystick but soon I got the hang of it in a matter minutes. The game has the odd glitch, but the campaign is a adrenalin pumping fast paced battle for the air. The graphics are excellent, while your planes air to ground weapons effects are at best startling and at worst terrifying. If you like World War 2 flight sims, get this game, the best combat flight sim EVER!
Love this game so much the planes look fantastic and it is fun to play with out being to hard to pick up and getting into the action. Not like a dead serious flight sim with tons of controls to learn but not a simple silly arcade game sort of a nice blend between the two but most importantly for me it was fun to play and historically interesting.
